Crown Point is a small town in Hendricks County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Evansville–Fayetteville–New Albany, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Crown Point was founded in 1811 as a post office and has been located on the present site since that time. The first settlers to Crown Point were farmers who arrived from Maryland in 1810. By 1812, they had built a log cabin on the current site of Crown Point High School. They were soon joined by other pioneers who began to settle around the area which became known as "The Settlement." In 1816, James Ketchum purchased land adjacent to what is now Crown Point High School from Nicholas Houlahan for $2 per acre. As far back as 1792, Houlahan had owned land within what is now Crown Point Township and had also donated some of his land south of the river to be used for a school district. In 1816, Ketchum donated another parcel of land which eventually became home to First Presbyterian Church (now St Andrew's Episcopal Church). Ketchum served as first Indian agent for Hendricks County from 1800-1805 and was responsible for negotiating treaties with various tribes including the Potawatomi and Wyandot. He also provided goods and services to local merchants throughout his tenure. He died in 1825 at the age of 80 years after serving this honorable role for many years. His wife Anna preceded him into death seven months later at age 82 years old.. Their children included 3 daughters and 2 sons: John A., James M., James P., Anna B., David C., Mary L., Caroline Etta.. After their father's death, John A.'s widow went on to provide leadership at First Presbyterian Church until her own death in 1865; James M.'s widow assumed leadership until her own death in 1901; James P.'s widow continued leading First PresbyterianChurch until her own death in 1943; David C.'s widow took over leadership after his father's passing; Mary L.'s widow led First PresbyterianChurch until she too passed away in 1975;; Caroline Etta succeeded her mother as leader following Caroline's marriage to Edwin Wimmert Jr.; crown point high school opened its doors on November 5th 1870 under guidance of Miss Daisy Lewis

Crown Point is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Crown Point is home to the Crown Point Museum and Archives and the Crown Point Heritage Park. It is also the location of the annual Indian summer fair which occurs in late July or early August. The first settlers in what is now Crown Point were Quakers from Pennsylvania. They arrived in 1787 and named their community after Sir Edmund Hillary, an English explorer who had journeyed across India during the previous year. The first post office was established in 1802 and was called Old Fort Hill because it stood on a hill near where Fort Dearborn now stands. In 1827, General David Dixon founded what became known as Crownpoint Township while serving as military commander of part of Northwest Territory won by Ulysses S. Grant during the Mexican-American War. In 1830, he donated land for a courthouse and jail which were built on current day Main Street between East First Avenue and South Second Avenue. In 1836, he donated additional land for schoolrooms, churches and other public buildings on what are now West Third Avenue and East Fourth Avenue north of Market Street (now Harrison Street). In 1847-48, local farmers formed a group to purchase 160 acres (72 hectares) west of present day Main Street where they erected a large farmhouse known as "Dixon House". This house still stands today as part of the crown point museum complex adjoining it on West Third Avenue North side from HarrisonStreet eastward about one half mile south from village limits line
