The first gun magazine in Crown Point was the "Rifleman's Guide to Firearms", which was published by Wm. A. Cook and published monthly from 1854-1856. The guide was designed for Riflemen and their families who were wanting to learn about firearms and how to use them safely. It also contained information about hunting, fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities. In 1865, the "Crown Point Sentinel" started publication and it quickly became one of the most popular newspapers in town. One of its main focus was politics and news events in Crown Point at that time. In addition to articles about local elections, court cases, business deals, etc., the paper also featured photographs of local residents as well as advertisements for various goods and services available in town at that time. With so many different publications being published throughout Crownpoint's history (including several weekly papers), it is difficult to know exactly when or how a particular magazine began appearing in a given place or during a specific period of time. Crown Point is a town in and the county seat of Hancock County, Indiana, United States. The population was 4,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kokomo metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Crown Point was Nicholas Flournoy, who arrived on July 3, 1814. In 1819, Captain John Sanger moved his family to Crown Point from St. Joseph County. The first post office in Crown Point was established on October 25, 1825. In 1830, what is now south side of Main Street was developed as a village named after Samuel Crownpoint—the son of Nicholas Flournoy and grandson of Captain John Sanger (of St. Joseph County). For many years there were only two buildings in this village: the old courthouse which still stands (now known as "Old Courthouse Square") and the church which also remains today (now called "Church Square"). It should be noted that although this early village had a name it no longer exists because it has been demolished several times over the years; each time it has been rebuilt with more current architecture! In 1840-41 an addition to the courthouse was made to accommodate more people living in Crown Point; this building still stands today next to Old Courthouse Square. So between 1830 and 1840 there were three buildings located east of present day Court Avenue - one for storage purposes and two for use as courtroom space by Judge Jno Prentice – one during business hours (during regular sessions) and one overnight when court wasn't being held due to weather conditions etc... This same year also saw another development north of Main Street - a large Greek Revival style home built by Capt'n John Sanger's widow Ann from proceeds from her husband's estate $6000 dollars raised through local subscription!!! It housed ten families at its peak! Unfortunately like so many other things associated with early crown point we can only imagine how long ago all these structures actually existed! Crown Point is a small town in central Indiana, on the banks of the Wabash River. It was founded by British colonists in 1786 as Crown Point and became a part of the United States in 1801. The population of Crown Point was 9,773 at the 2010 census. The first European settlers to Crown Point were Englishmen who had moved from what is now London, England in 1786. They named their new settlement after George Washington and his army's successful march through Indian country to avoid an outbreak of war that could have consequences for both countries. The Englishtown site lay along present-day State Route 22, east of present-day Indianapolis. In 1800, American traders began trading with the natives at Crown Point and soon developed into a sizable industry dealing in goods such as lumber, flour, tobacco and other products. By 1824, much of Crownpoint's business had shifted to shipping saltwater commerce up the river from Miami Beach on Lake Michigan because that route offered more opportunities for profits than land transportation through Indian Country did. After years of negotiation and efforts by Ulysses S. Grant during his presidency (1843–1845), President James Kossuth appointed John Pemberton as governor of Indiana Territory on January 1, 1847; Pemberton quickly approved building a steamboat harbor at Crownpoint so that goods could be transported ashore instead of being landed on wading trips across the Wabash River which took hours each way due to tidal current congestion. During World War I (1914–1918), Morehead Citys' military shipyard produced some 3 million rounds per day for artillery use in Europe while crown point produced just over 900 tons per week worth of munitions destined for Imports Inc., oneof several local companies engaged in this important wartime industry During Prohibition (1920– 1933), crown point continued producing munitions but also turned its attention to becoming an agricultural center supplying crops to farmers throughout central Indiana
