By 1870, many of Crawford's citizens had migrated to nearby Evansville for work in the local mills or for foundry work in nearby Danforth. Today, most of what used to be Crawford's downtown district remains standing; only two blocks of it are now within the limits of modern day Crawfordsville. A number of early buildings still stand today including: The State House (1847), Masonic Temple (1848), First Baptist Church (1860), and Drury School (1911). Other historic structures which have been preserved include: Clyde-Harrison House (c1900), Magruder House (1907), Allyn & Bacon Machine Shop Building(1910), Garrity & Morehouse Store(1920s) also located near Main Street are several blacksmith shops dating back to pioneer days like Hiram Garrity's forge and John Morehouse's smithy - both date back to the 1830s! Many aspects of life in those days - such as family farming - remain unchanged today thanks to generations of farmers who have continued working their land around here since then!
