Crawfordsville is a small town in Dearborn County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first land grants in what would become Crawfordsville were made to Elias Howe in 1793. The town began as a log settlement and grew slowly until it became a bustlingVillage in 1814 when the Ohio Canal was built through that area and Crawfordsville quickly emerged as one of its most important economic engines. Today, Crawfordsville remains an agricultural center with sizable production of corn, soybeans, wheat, dairy products and pork. Since its incorporation as a Village on November 5th 1814 by ordinance of the Township Trustees (now members of the City Council) it has grown rapidly through annexation of adjacent townships: first Addison Township in 1827 and then Green Township in 1839-40 followed by Whitewater Township in 1856-57 and finally Dearborn Township on February 14th 1861 joining from Warren County. In 1916-17 local children collected money for school supplies for their teachers through bake sales conducted during Holy Week; this program continued into World War I when contributions were raised for goods needed by soldiers abroad. A post office was established at Crawfordsville on January 10th 1830 ( concurrent with nearby Terre Haute), but only operated for six months before being discontinued due to lack of mail service from Indianapolis to rural areas near Terre Haute. A new post office was opened at Crawfordsville on July 6th 1830 ( concurrent with neighboring White Water). The original name for the village was "New Town". Today's crawfordstownia name honors Elias Howe who donated 640 acres (24 ha) to make the village site accessible by wagon road so that settlers could access crops they had started growing there back home on his family's 500 acre farm located northeast of Terre Haute along Commerce Road between Warsaw and Vincennes Roads which today still lies undeveloped . In 1865 another group of investors bought out Mr Howe’s holdings providing them with 2200 acres (100 ha) stretching from present day Addison Twp./Green Twp./Whitewater Twp./Dearborn Twp./ eastward to Grant/Purdue Rd., included within present day Whitewater/Addison/Greentown Townships’ boundaries beyond which no longer exists any real estate or continuing development potential while also providing future source water rights Lots 3 thru 7 &Lot 8 extending southwestward containing 1070 acres or more lying within present day Addison/Greenwich Parishes borders just outside current boundaries established Maynard Mfg Co & US 20

This type of holster consisted of two pieces: a padded strap that ran down your stomach and stopped just below your navel, and an elastic band which circled your waist. When you inserted your handgun into this holster, it would fit tightly against your body and wouldn't move at all while you carried it. Another type of holster was called a 'tri-fold' holster. This type had three straps that connected to each other at different points on their length, so they could be hooked around any part of your body (including both hips). This made it very difficult to remove the handgun from this holster without taking off all three straps! Eventually, people began to develop holsters with designs specific to certain pistols or revolvers. For example, Colt's Model 1903 revolver required a unique style of holster known as a 'revolver belly band'. A belly band is simply one piece of fabric that is attached directly to the underside of the revolver's frame with four metal snaps (and two screws), allowing you to easily remove the firearm from its secure location should you need to take it out for maintenance or cleaning purposes! Today, many people prefer either traditional holsters or ‘adjustable’ holsters which allow them to rotate their firearms in various positions depending on how they are positionated within their body while wearing them. Crawfordsville, Indiana is a town in Hancock County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus–Muncie Metropolitan Statistical Area. Crawfordsville is one of several towns in Hancock County that were founded by farmers after the American Civil War. The first settler in Crawfordsville was James Crawford and his family who arrived around 1814. In 1865, John Crawford bought land in present-day Crawfordsville from David Henshaw and began to build a home there. The town has been named for Admiral William Farragut because of its being on the old route of Farragut's flagship USS Constitution which sailed from New Orleans to Mobile Bay on July 8, 1801. The community was organized as a village on November 3, 1870. In 1907, Crawford built what is now known as the Crawford House Museum which became an attraction for tourists and locals alike. In 1915, localbusinessman George Wickersham donated money for a new high school building that would be used by both Crawfordsville High School and nearby Stroudsburg High School until they were merged into one school district in 1970. This donation also funded the construction of a new football stadium; however it was not operational until 1997 when it hosted its first game between Crawfordsville and Indianola High School (now Riverdale Community Schools). On October 2nd, 2003 local resident Rick Majerus set off a small fire within hours of taking pictures outside his home while burning vegetation to celebrate 4th of July fireworks displays at various locations around town - this event served as the beginning of what would become known as "Rags to Riches" history here in CrawfordsVILLE Crawford’s history dates back over 200 years! James CRAWFORD came overland with his family from Pennsylvania circa 1800 & started homesteading near our current location about 1814! He married Deborah EDWARDS & settlers soon moved westward ~ eastward eventually reaching today’s Hancock County about 1865- most likely via way back road called “The Gables”! Mrs crawford @ her death left 5 children: James (1824-1912), Julia (1827-1900), Sarah Jane (1830-1902), Amos Webster Higgins (1832-1910) & Hiram SAWYER!! Their oldest son James VINCE born Dec 1775 died young Aug 9 1861 aged just 21 yrs old…. Our next door neighbor Isaac ILLINOIS arrived Nov 25 1837 age 24yrs old he married SARAH JANE on Dec 12 1840 we had 2 kids: MARGARET ANNIE 1893 – 1935 & WILLIAM FRANKLIN 1895 – Jan 15 1984…..
