John began work on rebuilding this fort and named it Fort Crawford after his old home in Kentucky. It soon became apparent that these walls were not going to provide enough defense against any potential attackers coming through Illinois proper - or even farther south intoIndiana! So John decided it would be better if he built something more permanent here in Crawfordsville - something that could withstand much longer than just temporary Walls! He started construction on what would eventually become known as the Crawfordsville Arsenal – one of the most important armories in all of Indiana during those days! The Arsenal was built primarily forthe purpose of storing artillery ammunition and munitions needed for military campaigns throughout America during the 19th century! It also played an important role in helping Toombs County become one of the most prosperous areas within Indiana during that time! As such, it is no surprise that today’s Garrison Armory is still used today primarily for storage purposes!

Crawfordsville is a town in Hendricks County, Indiana, United States. The population was 2,421 at the 2010 census. Crawfordsville is part of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now comprising Crawfordsville was first settled by Europeans in the late 18th century as part of what was then known as Fayette Township. In 1827, the land that includes present-day Crawfordsville and parts of other townships became part of Hendricks County when it was formed from parts of Decatur County. The first post office in Crawfordsville was established on December 12, 1830, under the name "Fayette." The name change to "Crawford" in 1837 followed a vote by the citizens to replace all twelve original townships with one town having its own post office. Crawford's Mill and store were built near present-day intersection of State Road 26 and US 30 in 1840; this mill still exists and is used for storage today. A Methodist Episcopal church also stands north of State Road 26 just east of I-465 exit 216 (now called Old National Pike). This structure served as a meeting place for local residents until 1895 when it burned down due to an estimated $5,000 loss from theft during that year's fairs. In 1865, Hendricks County merged with neighboring Vigo County to form new larger Indiana Territory which included much of central Indiana including Crawfordsvilletownship within its borders. At this time Crawford's Mill no longer functioned as a commercial center due to increased competition from larger towns such as Terre Haute and Lafayette which had recently become independent cities. However, Crawford's Store continued operating until 1907 before becoming derelict until it was demolished around 1960s when it reopened as a Bed & Breakfast inn known today as Historic Crawfordsvilletowne Resort & Spa located off I-465 at exit 217A (Old National Pike). It should be noted that only Vigo and Hendricks Counties experienced this type of merger; all other counties within Indiana Territory remained separate entities until statehood in 1932. The village developed primarily due to religious services offered at Old Hickory Bible Church located on Main Street between State Road 26 and US 30 through 1915 when Reverend J C Hargrave began offering services there after moving from nearby Terre Haute where he had been pastor since 1887. Other early settlers included Sylvester Green who arrived around 1850 followed soon thereafter by his son John Green who founded the village cemetery in 1870 which still contains remains today including those interred there during both World War II bombings raids along with many more members of the First Congregational Church which organized around 1790 prior to that date making Democracy Tree Chapel their first congregation following consecration on November 10th thanksgiving day three days later! Additionally notable people associated with crawfordvillage include: Dr James Armstrong who operated an early school for children starting kindergarten through 8th grade1881; Mrs Anna Witherspoon who married Elijah Eaton about 1860; Rev Joel Naylor who served several terms county auditor 1880–1892; Rufus Hargrave Sr., founder/director/founder president American Telephone Company brick factory 1886–1902; Willis Mearsheimer owner/operator Indianapolis Drive Inn 1896–1907 Although cranberry orchards continue primary production throughout most years these crops are not typically grown here but elsewhere within Hinds or Kosciusko Counties adjacent to typical farmland conditions however they do occasionally produce some very high quality fruit Today crawfordvillage remains primarily residential although commercial activity continues via Grumpy’s Good Store open 9am-5pm daily across 4 sections - grocery store section closed Saturday mornings while inventory changes back into open seating 7am-2pm Tuesdays thru Saturdays while special sales events happen throughout summer season

Crawfordsville is a small town in Harrison County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,674 at the 2010 census. Crawfordsville is located on the east side of the Harrison River. It is part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Crawfordsville was Abram Eaton who arrived in 1814. He and his family were among the initial settlers when Crawfordsville became a village in 1827. Abram Eaton continued to live and farm here until his death in 1868. His son Enoch Eaton also lived and farming here for many years after he father's death until he too passed away in 1902. The first post office located here was established on July 20, 1830 by Hiram Davenport with the name of "Fulton". The present day Crawfordesville Post Office was established on January 3, 1907 with the name of "Crawfordsville". In 1867, John Fenton erected a log cabin on what today is known as Old Mill Road near where he now lives. This cabin served as the nucleus around which all later structures were built including Fenton's Store (1875), Mrs. Fenton's Bakery (1876), Mr./Mrs.(Pete) Sauer's Grain Mill (1877), Mr./Mrs.(Linda) Weiser's Laundry (1904), Mr./Ms.(Deborah) Morelli's Pizza place (2007-2008). In addition to these early settlers there were many more during over 150 years of history including: Lucille Greenlaw who Settlement began cotton ginning operations in 1886; Prentice Hine who founded an agricultural cooperative Hereford Cattle Feeding Company; Elijah McCoy who operated a grocery store from 1888 to 1893; George Anderson who started an ice cream business from 1895 to 1897; Willis Hines who ran a gas station from 1898 to 1908; Clarence Whitehead who started a lumberyard from 1909 to 1912; Wm./Doris Kapp/Patricia Kapp whose home still stands today and serves as museum property adjacent thereto along with other local businesses that have occupied or continue to occupy this location such as: Roy Jordon’s Auto Parts & Glass since 1936 ; Donny McCarty’s Pizza Place since 1978 ; Joe Butts Chevrolet Department Store since 1984 ;Wendy Weiser’s Flowers & Gifts since 2005 Allison Seed Co., Crawfordsville Tire Center & Supply Co., HD Radio Service - Stations #1110 - 1112 - 1113 Eaton House Museum opened its doors on October 10th, 2002 within walking distance of several downtown shops across Third Street from Old Ford High School which had been their previous home for twentyfive years prior! crawfordvilletimes@gmail com
