The company continued to operate until it closed its doors in 1984. The city of Crawfordsville was incorporated on November 3, 1925. At that time it had a population of only 100 people and consisted of just two blocks east of the courthouse square on Main Street between 2nd and 4th Streets. However, within five years, the city had grown to over 500 residents and had annexed six other villages: Northfield (1927), Granger (1929), Moran Heights (1931), South Park (1935), Springdale (1937) and White Sands (1945). By 1960 occupied acres near what is now known as Convention Center were valued at $1 million dollars which created an impetus for further development within Crawfordsville including construction of a new Civic Center which opened in 1967 complete with a large auditorium and ballroom as well as smaller retail buildings such as banks and convenience stores which can still be seen today along Main Street east of I-465
