The first soft gun case was created from hardwood and had a capacity of four rounds. It was used for displaying rifles and handguns within the clubhouse. The second soft gun case was made from cloth and had a capacity of twelve rounds. It was used for storing firearms outside of the clubhouse on separate racks. By 1923,Captain John Conners had passed away and his wife continued to use her husband’s donation for additional Soft Gun Cases inside of their home among other things. By 1927, both of Captain John Conners’ Soft Gun Cases were no longer being used by the club but remained in good condition until they were donated to Purdue University in 1974 as part of the Rare Firearms Collection. Since then they have been on display at Purdue University’s Miller Library where they currently reside!
