Connersville, Indiana is a small town in the central region of Indiana. It is located on the north-central bank of the Wabash River and has a population of approximately 9,000 people. The area that makes up Connersville was first settled by European Americans in the late eighteenth century. The town was founded in 1849 as a railroad station on the old Union Pacific Railroad. In 1925, Connersville became an incorporated city. The city's main economic activity is fishing and hunting; however, it also has a significant manufacturing sector. In 1976, Connersville became one of the few United States cities to enact legislation regulating handguns within its limits. That year, Mayor Hal Haddon passed an ordinance that required all handgun purchasers to present documentation proving they were not felons or mental defective persons. Additionally, handgun possession was only allowed for law enforcement officers and those holding valid permits from other local governments; civilians were not allowed to own handguns without written consent from their governing body. The ordinance had several goals: To reduce gun violence in the community; To keep firearms out of the hands of criminals; To prevent theft and misuse of handguns by individuals who are not authorized to possess them; And To protect citizens' Second Amendment rights to bear arms

The Connersville Shooting Protection Society (CSP) was formed in 1916 and has been providing shooting protection services to the community ever since. In 2018, CSP joined the American National Rifle Association (ANRA) and became a full-time affiliate.

This includes items such as pioneer tombstones and coins found throughout the community today that attest to its long legacy as a historical center for Connerstownians!
The first settler in Connersville was James Conner, who arrived in 1795. The town was founded on the site of what is now known as the Old Connersville Cemetery. In 1825, the community changed its name to Plainfield and became a township in 1827. In 1838, Plainfield became a city and was incorporated as such in 1849.
