Connersville is a town in Kosciusko County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Connersville was David Conners who settled here in 1814. He and his wife, Sarah Jane (Larkin), had two children: John and Mary. David died soon after moving to Connersville from Maryland with his family. In 1835, Isaac Dunham set up a gristmill on what is now Main Street in Connersville. In 1839–1840, three brothers named Wessels built a log cabin south of the mill on what is now East Avenue in Connersville. These were the first settlers in Kosciusko County and their families are buried there inside the old Wessels Cabin Museum that still stands today! In 1840, four brothers by the name of Dearborn bought land northeast of where present-day I-465 meets I-70 just east of town limits from James Cavanaugh and took up residence there known as Dearborn's Run which later became Indian Grove Park today. They raised beef cattle and hogs for their own use until about 1850 when they moved west to Plainfield Township where they operated a gristmill until it burned down in 1865. From 1865 to 1870 they ran a tannery near present day White River Road and from 1870 to 1880 they operated an Agricultural Experiment Station near what is now US 6th Street/I-465 north of town limits! A post office called Connersville was established in 1836; it was discontinued in 1852 because no mail arrived there! In 1892, George Fenton opened an grocery store at 7888 North College Ave which continued operation until 1893 when it closed due to competition from Pohl’s Drug Store next door! Today you can find several items related to this period such as pioneer relics inside the building including tools used by Fenton himself as well as hardware made by local merchants like Hinkle & Hawkinson along with many other items that helped make this time period so special for residents hereabouts! One interesting note about this time period is that not only were some important businesses located close together but also many people actually worked two jobs just to afford enough food for their meager existence!
Connersville was founded by James Conners in 1824. The city was named for General George Armstrong Custer, who fought in the Indian Wars.
