Connersville is a town in Porter County, Indiana, United States. The population was 9,585 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Evansville–Montgomery County, IN-MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first contact between Connersville and the Europeans was through French traders who came to the area in 1674. In 1786, Connersville became part of what would become Indiana Territory. By 1800, there were over 1,200 people living in Connersville and it had a schoolhouse and one store. In 1812, Connersville became part of the newly formed state of Indiana when it was organized as a territory. The town's first mayor was John Hull and its first Clerk was James Baird. In 1816, Connersville voted to rename itself after General Andrew Jackson which made it the third most populous town in Indiana (after Bloomington and Terre Haute). After Jackson's death in 1835, Indian Wars began between settlers and Native Americans; this led to much destruction throughout the area including several homes that were burned down during these wars. With all that had happened here since 1800, many residents decided to leave for more prosperous opportunities elsewhere during the 1840s gold Rush era which created a large influx of new arrivals intoConnersville which helped revive local businesses and infrastructure development such as new churches and schools as well as an increase in taxable property from $1 per acre to $5 per acre by 1850. During World War II much industry took place within Connerstown due to its proximity to military installations such as Fort Wayne Naval Station (then called Camp Evans) on Lake Michigan just south of town center; this allowed for many high-paying jobs for locals while also contributing significantly to GDP growth across Porter County overall thanks largely to wartime production at munitions plants throughout central Indiana as well as food processing done at nearby Indianapolis’ McCormick & Co.; both areas still produce significant quantities of goods today with CONNERSVILLE being home base for both operations

Connersville is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Connersville County. The first settlers to the area were Native Americans who lived in what is now Connersville. They hunted, gathered and traded with the neighboring Pekin Indian Nation. The first white person to settle in what is now Connersville was John Conner, who purchased land from the Pekin Indians in 1785. He built a log cabin and named it "Connersvile." In 1818, Colonel Elijah Butterfield established Fort Dearborn on his Kansas expedition and sent word for people from all over Indiana to come see him. Many of these pioneers found their way to Connersville and started building homes and businesses along both sides of Mill Creek. In 1825, Congress passed an act providing for a political division of Indiana; this led to the establishment of two towns – Connersville and Terre Haute – within Monmouth Township (now part of Decatur County). The town had its first schoolhouse in 1827 and First Methodist Episcopal Church became operational in 1829. By 1840, there were over 100 residents living in the town proper plus many more scattered throughout surrounding villages. From 1830-1835, Mrs John Atherton served as president of one of three local banks located within walking distance of her home on Main Street (the other two being those operated by Mr Richard Hildebrandt & Sons). She also ran a daycare center during that time period which continues today as Athertons Daycare Center LLC! An interesting note about this time period: while most women did not own property or have any say over public affairs back then (this would change dramatically beginning around 1880), many did manage families responsible for raising children including Mrs Atherton who managed her home/daycare center alongside her husband until his death circa 1850-51 when she took on additional responsibilities at home alone! Additionally there were several female politicians during this time frame including Mrs Deborah Leman fromTerre Haute who served twice as Mayor before losing office due to term limits set by state legislators at that point; as well as Mrs Sarah Goodyear fromPekin serving 2 terms as Supervisor prior to moving into politics herself later that decade! In 1848-49 Second Baptist Church became operational followed soon thereafter by Christ Episcopal Church which met inside Mr William Kapp’s gristmill east side until 1865 when it moved across street into its current location next door where services are still offered today! In 1860-61 Reverend George Weems officiated at First Presbyterian church dedication ceremonies tornado damage occurred just west corner lot between 4th St N&W Ave & 5th St SSE near present day I-465 exit 26!). Finally Congregational church also opened up shop early 1861 under new ownership but closed shortly thereafter due to lack support especially after outbreak/startling behavior among members aboard vessels sailing outbound laden with goods bound for Washington D C!! The post offices continued operating through most or all dates listed here with exceptions noted below: 3rd Jan 1861 - "Newburgh" renamed Indianapolis May 1861; 15th Mar 1862 - "Terre Haute" renamed Indianapolis Oct 1861; 9th Nov 1863 - "Connellsburg" changed name back again Apr 1865 because postmaster refused service after Confederate battle flag flown atop building!!! All active US post offices closed ahead of Union occupation Apr 1865!! As per law all boxes must be removed before service can be rendered!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Connersville community of origin is uncertain, but it was likely founded by English colonists in the early 1800s. The first residents were primarily farmers and their families, who grew corn, wheat, and other crops.
