After the war ended, much progress was made to reduce crime but also caused some stability problems due to social changes that took place within the community over time including growing Latino populations which led to tension between Anglo/Hmong residents who were dominant before WWII (and continue to be so) while Latinos adopted English language skills as a way out of poverty while others found ways to assimilate into mainstream society; this tension continues today with some people choosing not or not very openly speaking their ethnicity or culture while others have chosen more visible forms such as wearing Spanishlanguage clothing or using Hispanic surnames).
