Brownsburg is a small town in Clearfield County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European settlers in what is now Brownsburg were white men from England who came over on the "Indiana packet" in 1785. In 1802, James Caldwell and his family arrived from Kentucky and founded Caldwellsville. When he died in 1814, his son James Caldwell II took over ownership of the land around Brownsburg and began to build a home there. In 1825, John Marshall bought 640 acres (248 hectares) of land southeast of Brownsburg from Thomas Biddle for $2 million dollars. He named it Huntington tract after his brother-in-law Hugh Huntington (1775-1848), one of the most prominent early landowners in that area. At first only three families lived there: Marshall's heirs, the Peebleses and Burnetts; later other families joined them and the tract became known as Brownstown or simply Brownsburg. The first school was built here in 1829 by David Tilton with funds provided by John Marshall. The current high school building was constructed in 1923 as part of a project to improve education opportunities for local residents throughout Clearfield County while also accommodating future growth on the site. Brownsburg experienced some major changes during World War II when many American citizens left their homes to serve their country overseas or served as soldiers in combat zones closer to home than they had ever been before. Many businesses closed during wartime due to lack of demand; however, some such as The Grapeseed Store continued operation until 1951 despite having no customers remaining when hostilities ended two years later. One resident who actively participated during wartime was Wendell Berryman who served on various committees set up within local government to ensure civilians could get access to essential goods needed for survival such as food security and energy production necessary for war efforts such as aluminum production without fear of retribution from Axis forces occupying Europe at that time Today, Brownburgh has seen significant growth since its inception 100 years ago including much development related to technology especially with respect to manufacturing which has led to more jobs being created locally than ever before thanks largely to new technologies like 3D printing & digital fabrication currently enjoyed by many companies headquartered here including IBM & Delphi among others

Brownsburg is a town in Huntington County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. The name is derived from the Potawatomi word "bruhaha" meaning "a village." The first settler in Brownsburg was John Brown who arrived in 1785. He and his family built a log cabin on the banks of the Wabash River. In 1814, he married Susanna Martin and they started a small farm near present-day Brownsburg. John Brown died in 1834 and Susanna moved to Manchester, Ohio with her children. In 1837, William Henshaw came to Brownsburg and set up a blacksmith shop on Main Street. He also operated a gristmill that supplied flour for both local homes and for shipping to Cincinnati. In 1840, he became the first postmaster of Brownsburg when he opened an office at 113 Main Street. From 1840 until his death in 1865, William Henshaw served as one of five elected trustees of Huntington County (later West Virginia). AfterWilliam Henshaw's death, his son Amos Henshaw took over the post office business and continued until 1870 when it was taken over by John Crouch Sr.. After John Crouch Sr.'s death in 1880, it passed through several families before it came into ownership by Rear Admiral James Ladd who ran it as Ladd & Sons grocery store from 1902 until his death in 1957. During World War II there were many military installations including an Aircraft Plant which produced Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bombers for Army Air Forces use; these plants closed during the war but reopened after the war as Brownstown Manufacturing Company which still operates today as an industrial manufacturer with products including auto parts and steel products
Brownsburg was founded in 1814 as a small trading post on the southern banks of the Wabash River. The town grew rapidly, and by 1830 it had a population of over 1,000 people. By 1840, Brownsburg had become an important strategic location on the Illinois-Indiana Railroad. In 1847, the town became part of Indianapolis, and in 1857 it became the seat of Posey County.
