Today also stands out as being one of the most significant towns center functions with its annual Christmas parade that features more than 250 entries along Main Street

Brownsburg's population reached 1,100 in 1920 but declined thereafter until it peaked at 1,500 in 1960 with an estimated current population of 710. During World War II Brownsburg became home to both USAAF Station "Brownsberg" and Japanese Naval Air Station Niigata Aomori (JNAF-A). The airfield served as a major training center for Japan's new aircraft groups during Shigeru Miyamoto 's tenure as Commander-in-Chief ofighter operational units (1st Air Fleet) from 1944 through 1945; it also furnished pilots for Operation Downfall . JNAF-A was deactivated on 30 November 1945 and all remaining personnel transferred to nearby Fort Wayne . Brownsburg has experienced some growth since its peak populations were around 1,500: during the late 1990s there were plans underway for a shopping mall and housing developments; however these have not been realized yet
