The Grange Hall been used for many years as a high school stadium for sports events such as football and track meetings. A new elementary school was built on land donated by Mrs. Hilda Weitzman in 1954 and named after her late husband Carl Weitzman, an early settler and one of Beech Grove's most notable citizens with more than 50 years of service to the community including 10 terms as mayor of Beech Grove Village

Beech Grove is a town in Kosciusko County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,524 at the 2010 census. The community was incorporated on April 20, 1892. Beech Grove is located in the West Central Indiana region and is part of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Beech Grove were three Frenchmen who named it Beaumont after a beech tree near their cabin on the banks of the White River. They built their cabin in 1798 when they were exploring what became Kosciusko County. In 1840, Daniel Boone came through this area and named his new settlement "Beech Grove". When he died in 1794, his wife Deborah moved to this area with him and took over his land holdings here. She continued to live here until her death in 1847. In 1829-30, Henry Dearborn surveyed 4 square miles (10 km²) of this area for a road connecting Warsaw and Fort Wayne via Goshen and Peru City. His survey was completed along current US 81/Highway 12 east of present day Beech Grove (or "Bigbee" as it was then called). This road would later become known as State Road 2 which connected Warsaw with Fort Wayne and other eastern towns during the early years of Indiana's statehood. After Indian removal efforts began in 1830 - helped by General Andrew Jackson - many Native Americans from centralIndiana relocated to Creek Territory west of Mobile Bayou where they joined forces with Creek Chief Oso Anna to resist American encroachment into their traditional territory When Kosciusko County was organized on March 3, 1847 – following Indian Removal – Beech Grove lay within its original boundaries but had no residents or buildings existing at that time. On April 20th of that year local citizens submitted an application for incorporation under Chapter 11 of the laws of Indiana On July 16th 1850 voters approved becoming an independent township under Article VIII section 7of the Constitution Of The State OfIndiana The Township Committee met on September 10th 1850 to organize Township Government which included 5 members including Chairman James Aughton appointed by Govt Incorporation papers were filed October 3rd 1850 with Secretary Toole & clerk J C Howland being elected President Clerk at $5 per month salary effective November 1st 1850 Samuel Hargrave Treasurer
