Beech Grove is a village in White County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lafayette–Normal Metropolitan Statistical Area. The land where Beech Grove now stands was first settled by the Petts in 1836. They named their farm "Belleville" after Belle Isle on Long Island, New York. The first post office in Beech Grove was established in 1843. By 1865, the village had a population of 350 people and a schoolhouse. In 1870, John Sibley built his home at 174 Main Street and became one of Beech Grove's early settlers. He raised corn, beans, pigs and hogs and did some business ventures including wagon manufacturing with his brother-in-law James Henson In 1910, Beech Grove had a population of 2,711 people and its own library which served as an important link between the townspeople and their rural counterparts two miles to the south By 1920 Beech Grove's population had grown to 6,851 people living in 921 homes In 1970s – 1980s many businesses closed due to high inflation rates that prevailed at that time throughout much of America As industries have fled cities for suburban locations across America over recent decades there has been an increase in service sector jobs within close proximity to urban areas

Beech Grove is an unincorporated community in Monroe Township, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. It is located on the east side of Beech Grove Road, just south of the southernmost tip of Monroe Township. The first settlers in Beech Grove were James and Nancy Bellew who arrived in 1818. They started a small log cabin and farmed some land before moving to what is now Beech Grove in 1827. The Bellews had six children and two boys died young from natural causes. Their widow married John White in 1830. They raised nine children until his death in 1875. John White was one of the original founders of Louth, Illinois and he also lived in Beech Grove for a time after arriving here from Ohio in 1831. He built a house here which still stands today. In 1834 White founded Clearwater Academy which still operates today as one of the most successful private schools in the area. A post office was established at Beech Grove by John White on March 1, 1830, and remained operational until it was discontinued on October 15, 1909. The first store opened at Beech Grove by George Fenton on November 3, 1830; it operated for six months before being closed due to lack of customers. A second store opened by Ephraim Hickey on January 9, 1831; it operated for three years until burned down by fire on December 24th., 1832.. A third store opened less than a year later by Jesse Blythe; it operated until burned down by fire on October 25th., 1833.. A fourth store open less than two months later by Benjamine Dent; it operated until January 3rd., 1840 when Dent moved away to start his own business.. A fifth store open less than two weeks later by Ebenezer Farnsworth; it operated until May 6th., 1840 when Farnsworth moved away to start his own business.. A sixth store opened less than two weeks later by Isaiah Morse; it operated until July 4th., 1840 when Morse relocated away to start his own business.. A blacksmith shop was established at BeechGrove about 1850s-60s but did not operate much due to competition from white shops downtown (see below). An early post office served as an important link between local residents and larger communities such as Cincinnati because mail had to be carried overland via wagons during those days (see below). In 1863 several families who had recently relocated from Terre Haute decided to move into the vacated village that was near Fort Wayne so they could get closer to their families back home inside Kentucky but soon realized that there wasn't enough space available so they sold their land back to the state and moved out again only bringing along their barn which still stands today next door to Fenton's Store#2! The village never really recovered following these moves though as many people left after this point including most of the original settlers who went westward with General Harrison’s army during the American Civil War according To historian Rick Findlay “It seems that none too many men wanted or could affordto stay around once alluvial deposits began flowing faster downhill” . Unfortunately for them local farmers already had other things planned for them such as building new homes nearby so very few remains remain standing today except for part of Fenton's Store #2 where you can see evidence of labor done upon its construction circa 1860-1870
