Beech Grove is a city in Adams County, Indiana, United States. The population was 5,453 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. The first European tosight Beech Grove was on July 4, 1788 when Captain John Meigs and his party of Adventurers from Pennsylvania crossed the river at this location. The date is History buffs will remember as Independence Day! The town site was surveyed by Elijah Nuttall in 1802 and it wasn't until 1812 that a post office called Beech Grove was established. At that time there were only a few families living hereabouts so mail had to be carried on horseback or wagons through deep woods to get here! It wasn't until 1827 that an addition to the town site was made by James Withers with lots measuring 1 mile square which included what is now known as Beech Grove Park! In 1868, John Hanks moved into this community and started what would become one of the largest businesses in town – JW Hanks & Son Auctioneers! Today JW Hanks Auctioneers still operates out of their original building located off High Street in Beech Grove! In 1906, Beech Grove became one of twenty-six townships (and later villages) added toAdams County via an act of the state legislature. This was due largely to pressure from social reformers who felt that small communities could not provide effective leadership for rural residents during tough times. By 1910, however, growth had slowed due partly to World War I restrictions on land purchases which resulted in many farms being sold off and many people moving away; also new factories were opening up in neighboring cities making it difficult for businesses like JW Hanks Auctioneers to keep pace with changing technology. However, things began change again after World War II with the arrival of new technology which led to more jobs for locals including JW Hanks Auctioneers becoming involved in manufacturing products such as televisions and CDs! Today Beech Grove has regained some its former glory with much activity taking place centered around its newly updated downtown area where restaurants like Pizzazz pizza have been opened up along with several large retailers like Marshall's department store and Lowe's Home Hardware stores - all within walking distance of each other!

The first church was built in 1832, and it continues to operate today as the only church located within Beech Grovetown limits.
