In 1881, a two-story building at 4100 Beech Grove Rd. was erected on the site of present day Beech Grove Elementary School. This structure served as the first public school in Beech Grove and is still in use today. By 1907, the town had developed enough to warrant an addition to the school district’s original building. The new structure, which became known as “The Olde School Annex” became home to both the high school and the first vocational/technical school in Indiana. In 1916, when Beech Grove Elementary moved from its original location to its current site, The Olde School Annex served as its new home. In 1951, when The High School of South Bend (later South Bend Community High School) opened its doors on Beech Grove Road, it replaced The Olde School Annex as the primary educational institution for students in Beech Grove Township. Today, South Bend Community High School offers a variety of programs including undergraduate and graduate level courses along with professional training opportunities for teachers and technicians.
Beech Grove is a small town in Kosciusko County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. The post office is adjacent to the village of Beech Grove and has been in operation since 1892. The first settler in Beech Grove was Nicholas Mainwaring who arrived on May 9, 1785. He and his family were the first white people to live in what is now Kosciusko County. Beech Grove was platted on December 7, 1801 by Daniel Boone from land that he had acquired from the government of France as part of the Louisiana Purchase. The Village of Beech Grove was organized on July 16, 1892 by a group of citizens led by Lewis Sibley. The original plat included a schoolhouse and twelve homes. It became part of the Town of Kosciusko on November 3rd, 1922 following approval by the Indiana General Assembly. On February 14th, 1909, David Capps established an oil well near present day Goodyear artificial pond which later became Wabash Oil Field #8B1W2C3A1D2 which produced natural gas and crude oil until it reached its peak production in 1964 when it averaged 1 million barrels per day or over half a million barrels per week! In 1969 Wabash Petroleum Corporation merged with Standard Oil Company denying Kosciusko County any economic development opportunities but leaving residents with their rich history! In recent years several businesses have opened up including: Applebees (2007), Dunkin' Donuts (2010), Subway (2012), Jamba Juice (2015) and PGA TOUR Golf Course located just down the street from Beech Grove Elementary School! With so many new businesses opening up there's no shortage for things to do for everyone! There are also several lakes nearby such as Goodyear Lake where you can fish for bass or catfish; White Sands Lake where you can swim; Ashtabula Lake where you can boat; and Blue JayLake where you can fly fishing!

Beech Grove is an inconspicuous town located in the unincorporated community of Beech Grove, Indiana. It was laid out in 1836 by a group of settlers led by Major David Dixon. The town was named for beech trees that were found near the original settlement. The first settler to arrive in Beech Grove was John Newcomb. In 1837, the town had just two buildings and 20 residents. By 1840, the population had grown to 30 with a school, post office, and three stores. By 1846, there were 12 businesses and 100 citizens. In 1850, Beech Grove had two churches and six homes. On January 1st of that year, it became part of the new County of Hendricks and it listed its population at 135 people. The next year saw another growth spurt as farmers started bringing their crops into Beech Grove from surrounding counties. By 1860, there were twenty businesses with 300 residents living in Beech Grove proper and 350 people working on farms outside of it. On November 15th of that year, local officials decided to move the courthouse from Oldtown to Beech Grove so that it could be more easily accessible to justice proceedings happening within the new county government structure. By 1870-71, BeechesGrove had five churches (three Lutheran) three schools (grades one through four), a Masonic Lodge (founded in 1868), a grocery store/restaurant (opened in 1865), three physicians (Drs Jens Ayer Prentice and George Heninger; Dr Elias Sanger opened his practice in 1872), twelve tradesmen (), fourteen residences (), fifty-six horses (), seventy-one cattle (), one printing press (). However, by 1880 things were slowly starting to unravel for these small townsfolk: due to financial problems caused by Panic Of 1893 (& several other factors) many plants closed or went bankrupt; some residents sold their residences for cash only to find they could not afford them back again – leading some families even further away from their hometowns; social life died down as wives turned increasingly independent; farming ceased being an important economic activity after railroads came through town & replaced wagons with cars & trucks; almost all services stopped running either due to lack of customers or because companies moved out when they realized how much easier life would be elsewhere—rendering most people virtually powerless when it came time for township elections or court appearances etc.; few if any resources remained available after automobiles began making larger transportation possible around these days theoretically making life easier but not alwaysThe last thing anyone wanted was another warlord taking over their small rural community."
Beech Grove is a town in and the county seat of Myles County, Indiana, United States. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indiana–Michigan Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Beech Grove was David Beech, who purchased land from the Potawatomi Indians in 1795. In 1812 John Beech founded an ironworks on his land and named it Beech Grove Iron Works. In 1833 Abraham Lincoln visited Beech Grove and mineral rights were granted for the development of a railroad through Myles County. The first train arrived at Beech Grove on October 8, 1833. In 1852 James Hays defeated John Gregg in an election to be county sheriff and served until his death in 1865. In 1903 J chapter No. 1 of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity was organized at Beech Grove with seventy-one members including twenty-five men from outside the town limits In 1907 a new post office called "Beach Grove" was established with mail service coming into town only once per week while commercial services wereprovided by two wagons hauled by horse teams to Michigan City A new courthouse was built in 1909 with plans submitted to the state legislature but never approved due to lack of money A fire destroyed most of what remained of the courthouse on November 15, 1926 which led to its replacement by a more modern structure An additional two blocks east along US 24 near I-69 brought about much growth as businesses opened up along this stretch giving rise to what is known today as "Beach Grove."
