Beech Grove is a small town in Clark County, Indiana, United States. The population was 3,902 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first tool-making shop in Beech Grove was established by three men in 1859. In 1865, a post office called Beech Grove was established, and the city of Beech Grove began to form. The first mayor of Beech Grove was James Cavanaugh. In 1896, a sawmill and grist mill were built on the east side of town; these mills were used until 1912 when they were converted into housing units. In 1924, an ice cream store opened in Beech Grove; it closed in 1951. In 1957, two more sawmills were built: one on North Main Street and the other on South Main Street (now known as First Avenue). These mills continued to be used until 1960 when they were also converted into housing units. Thelast Sawmill in Beech Grove was built in 1961 and operated until 1964 when it also became housing units. In total there have been six sawmills located within town limits since 1859-61!

Beech Grove is a small, unincorporated community in Pike County, Indiana. It is located on the southern edge of the town of Beech Grove, between the towns of North Bend and New Boston. The population was 387 at the 2010 census. The first settler in what is now Beech Grove was John Beech who arrived in 1814. He and his family were among the earliest to come to this area and are still reported as being present in what is today Beech Grove. In 1816, Ebenezer Beech founded a grist mill on the current site of Grange Road & White River Road. By 1830, there were also five stores and four homes here. By 1835, there were twenty-four residents here. During the early years of this area's development, its only industry was agriculture; however, over time it began to develop into a larger community with some businesses starting up like a blacksmith shop (1851), grocery store (1854), flour mill (1857), foundry (1902), post office (1915), schoolhouse (1924) and more later like an insurance company (1920s). There have been many changes to this area through its history including annexation by other communities such as North Bend & New Boston during prohibition times which left Beaver Spring as one of those communities for about fifty years until it too annexed by new settlements around that time when prohibition ended. Beach Grove has had several churches built in it including First Baptist Church which was organized in 1865 followed by Methodist Episcopal Church from 1870-1974 then Roman Catholic Church from 1975-present day

Beech Grove is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute–Brownsburg, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Beech Grove was platted in 1814 by Nicholas Beech and his brother John Beech. The name may derive from beech (a kind of oak) because it was one of the first places to be logged in Central Indiana. In 1827, a post office called Beech Grove was established, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The first settlers came from England and Ireland; some were Presbyterians who had migrated there for religious reasons and others were Catholics who had come for political reasons. By 1830, over 60% of the people living in Beech Grove were Irish-American Protestants, making it one of the most Irish-dominated towns in central Indiana. The first school opened in 1829 as an academy under the direction of Revs Peter Coughlin and John Fenton. That same year saw the opening of a sawmill on White River by Captain James McIntyre and his son David McIntyre; this mill became one of the largest employers in town after its construction ceased around 1920 when production moved to larger mills downtown. In 1835, three men – George Stephenson, Nicholas Beech Jr., and Jonathan Edwards – built a canal across White River to provide water power for their sawmill while also creating demand for lumber that could not be produced locally due to lack of rainfall or other factors. This Canal project helped lead to increased trade with neighboring towns along the Ohio River during early 19th century industrialization throughout Northern Indiana as more people traveled through central Indiana looking for new opportunities like these canals would provide access to markets outside their home communities
