As growth continued to occur throughout these years, businesses like druggists, grocery stores (including a bakery), clothing stores (including several Sears & Roebuck departments) as well as restaurants cropped up catering to various needs of those living in this burgeoning community along the banks of White River which flowed through Beech Grove into Terre Haute proper! Today you can find plenty of places to eat specificities such as Mexican food (El Pueblo), German food (Gasthaus am Rhein), Italian food (Pizzeria del Papa}, fast food outlets such as Pizza Hut and Carl's Jr., antique shops with everything from old coins to furniture to clocks etc., just about anything that could make life more interesting inside a small town! And don't forget bout those amazing beeches... they're still topiaries today but also offer great views during nice weather!

Beech Grove is a small town located in Porter County, Indiana. The population was 1,874 at the 2010 census. Beech Grove is one of seven villages in Porter County. Beech Grove was founded in 1848 by John Beech and his family. The first post office was established in 1849. In 1860, Mr. Beech donated land to the village for a school and garage. The first three buildings were built on this land: the old courthouse, the library, and the garage. In 1921, the Village incorporation was granted by the Indiana General Assembly and Beech Grove became a village under its own government. The first mayor of Beech Grove was Averill Witherspoon and he served from 1921 to 1926. Mrs. Jennie Goudreau served as Mayor from 1926 to 1931; she also served as treasurer during her previous terms of service (1926-31). Mrs. Goudreau also chaired the planning committee that developed plans for development around what is now known as Main Street in 1951-1957 inclusive The Village has experienced growth over time with new construction projects such as a high school (1988), an addition to the library (2002), a new fire station(2005), multiple residences(2009-2013), an amphitheater(2015) There are several significant historical events that have occurred within or surrounding Beech Grove including: John Breen's gold discovery at Peebles Pier in 1846 led to increased settlement activity along this portion of I-70 between Indianapolis and Fort Wayne resulting in many businesses being opened near Peebles Pier including J & J Smith's grocery store which had been open since 1845 In 1847 James Ladds opened his tannery on State Road 12 east of present day downtown Beech Grove serving local farmers until 1865 when it burned down due to bad weather In 1870 Henery Cooke established Cooke’s Grain Elevator on Main Street behing today’s current bank building In 1916 Josephine White set up her home business called “The Lioness” across from what is now Bankers Life Field Office just south of present day Fourth Street There have been numerous other businesses set up throughout history but these are generally limited to brief mentions or provide no further information about their establishment
Beech Grove was founded in 1811 by John Beech, a Quaker. The town was named for beech trees that were then being grown in the area. The first business in Beech Grove was a tannery. In 1824, the first post office was established here. In 1860, the population of Beech Grove had increased to about 300 people. By 1870, the population had reached 1,500 people and by 1880 it had grown to 2,000 people. There were several businesses in Beech Grove during this time including a flour mill and a gristmill. By 1900, there were five businesses in Beech Grove with an estimated total income of $10 million. During World War I, Beech Grove became known as the "USS Indianapolis Town" because of its significant role in the war effort. After the war ended, many residents left Beech Grove and it slowly lost its importance over time. In 1970, it had only 100 residents remaining and by 1980 it had fallen to 50 residents
