Beech Grove is a small town in Butler County, Indiana, United States. The population was 6,912 at the 2010 census. Beech Grove is part of the Indianapolis-Normal Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Beech Grove were farmers who arrived in 1814. A post office was established in 1835 and changed its name to Beech Grove in 1861. The community had a store and school until 1955 when it lost its status as a village and became an incorporated town. In 1984, the town voted to change its name to Cedar Rapids because of similarities between the two towns' namesakes (Cedar Rapids being named for the Cedar River). The change took effect on October 1, 1984. This was also bethented by then mayor Tom Doherty who said "I think people have confused us twice now." The current mayor is Randy Cavanaugh with term beginning on January 1, 2021. There are two elementary schools (Beach Grove Elementary School and Northport Elementary School), one middle school (Northport Middle School), one high school (Southside High School) and three restaurants/bars: Joes Irish Pub & Grill, Subway sandwich shop, and Dutch Bros BBQ restaurant which opened in 2009. There are also two senior citizen living complexes - one called Crossroads Village II which services seniors from Southside High School along with Keystone Crossing Care Home located adjacent to Southside High School; and another called Senior Living Village I which offers care for residents from Northport Middle School along with Uniondale Presbyterian Church located adjacent to Northport MiddleSchool

In 1871, the Beech Grove railroad station was the only stop in the small community. By 1901, only six people lived in Beech Grove. The last train left Beech Grove on October 5, 1901.
