Beech Grove, Indiana is a town in Johnson County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,902 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. The first settlers in Beech Grove were John and Sarah Beech who arrived in 1814. The community was named for a beech tree that grew near the original site of the town. In 1829, George Stephenson founded Anderton School which became one of the largest schools in central Indiana. In 1840, James Witherspoon opened White Face Tavern which became one of Beech Grove's most popular businesses. In 1865, Samuel Morse established Morse Street Railway Company which served as a transportation link between Beech Grove and other parts of northeast Indiana. This helped to make Beech Grove an important center for commerce and industry during its early years. The post office was moved to Beech Grove from originally being located in Bloomfield Township on November 3, 1868; it had been located there since 1798. The first postmaster was Elias Howe (1806-1892). In 1915–16, Beech Grove annexed part of neighboring Farmington Township; this annexation resulted in the addition of 2 miles (3 km) of highway to the town boundaries which made it easier for residents to get around without having to go through another township or village again. At that time, Farmington Township consisted mostly of farmland with a few houses scattered among them; however, when thetown annexation happened all that changed as well because now there are several blocks wide streets running through every house within Farmington Township making it difficult for people other than those living inside city limits to get around without going out into country lanes or Interstate 69 exits just outside city limits instead! Today many aspects unique to cities have become normalized thanks largely to suburbanization such as single family homes built on open space surrounded by McMansions with garages large enough for multiple cars etc., but back then these things were revolutionary new ideas!

Beech Grove is an unincorporated community in Morgan County, Indiana, United States. It lies on the South Branch of the West Fork of the White River. The population was 158 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Beech Grove was John Stephenson, who arrived in 1818. He built a cabin on what is now State Road 906. Stephenson's cabin served as the nucleus for much of Beech Grove until 1827 when it burned down. A later settler, Isaac Haggerty, erected a log cabin on what is now State Road 697 in 1830. With its own well and store, Haggerty's village soon became an important community artery between Hoosiers and other settlers farther west near Lebanon and Indianapolis. In 1834, Zephyr Teachout settled at Beech Grove with his family from Carthage Township (now Delaware Township). teaching school there before moving to nearby Noblesville sometime later that year to open a day-school business which he continued until 1840 when he sold his land to George Parkes for $650 (). Parkes constructed a gristmill and sawmill here which functioned until about 1850 when they were replaced by a more powerful engine and turbine mill developed by Andrew Carnegie (). After industrialization supplanted agriculture as the primary economic activity in early Indiana, beech grove rapidly lost population due to relocation or emigration within Indiana and Illinois during the late 19th century. In 1880 it had no residents living outside of Morgan County; its only occupant within county limits was George Wohlgemuth (), who lived there alone until his death in 1907 (). When Morgan County was created on November 1st 1892 out of land split off from Delaware Township (then also part of Hoosier Territory), Beech Grove fell within its boundaries but never regained population after being largely abandoned during this time period. Eventually it reverted back to rural non-residential status until it again gained some form of resident status following its incorporation into Morgan County as an unincorporated community on January 1st 1951 ().
