Bedford, Indiana was one of the first communities in the United States to adopt a gun slings history. On December 3rd, 1885, Bedford City Council passed an ordinance that required all businesses with more than 10 employees to have at least one sling for each employee. The ordinance also provided for the display of these slings at public events and outdoor displays. The purpose of this document is not to discuss Bedford's previous or current ordinances related to gun slings, but rather explore its history as it relates to this particular topic. In 1885, there were no restrictions on firearms in America; all citizens were allowed to own any rifle or shotgun they desired. This meant that anyone who felt like they had need for a firearm could legally do so. As time passed and different laws changed, Bedford began To require gun permits from their customers who wished to purchase guns online or through other methods. In 1986, the city council passed an ordinance which stated that all handguns must be registered with the city before they can be possessed by residents. This requirement applied equally whether someone owned a handgun outright or rented them out (or leased them back). Since then, Bedford has made several changes related to firearm ownership and safety including increasing fines for those convicted of Disorderly Conduct with a Gun (DCAG), outlawing possession of felons’ automatic weapons within city limits (FELA), and increasing regulation on ammo sales within city limits (ASR). All of these measures are designed either preventative or punitive in nature and aim towards improving safety while maintaining citizen's Second Amendment rights.

Bedford is a small, rural town in central Indiana. The population was 1,812 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Terre Haute–Bellefontaine Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town was laid out by General David Bedford in 1818 after he became governor of Indiana. The original name for the town was "New Salem". In 1827, General Bedford sold what is now the north side of Bedford to Colonel John Morton and his family for $2,000 (). This left the south side which contains present day Bedford as its only east side.

In that year, an act was passed which banned slavery within state borders and as a result many freed slaves returned to Bedford. This led to increased African American settlement in nearby towns such as Terre Haute (now Terre Haute) and Lafayette (now Lafayette). In 1856 the cornerstone of what would become Bedford was laid and construction began on what would eventually be one of America's largest post offices. The building still stands today and can accommodate up to 350 customers at once! A few years later, Bedford became one of three places where mail could be delivered directly from Washington D C! This service helped make Bedford an increasingly popular destination for residents seeking out easy access to influential government officials across the pond. Today, Bedford remains a primarily agricultural community with some modest retail development taking place around downtown; however, its roots remain firmly planted in agriculture with produce being sold from local stores throughout much of central Indiana as well as eastern Kentucky/Ohio/Pennsylvania etc., making this one of America’s most diverse small towns - literally!
Bedford was founded in 1824 by James Bedford and is the oldest city in Indiana. The population of Bedford grew rapidly from its original hundred residents to over two thousand by 1850. during the late 1800s, Bedford became a manufacturing center with heavy industry including breweries, cotton factories, and tanneries. The growth of Indianapolis led to an decline in production at Bedford plants until World War II when new plants were built and production increased again. In the 1970s, the city experienced a reverse migration trend as many families moved out of town for cheaper living options outside of Indianapolis.
