Bedford, Indiana is home to one of the most important gun hammer history in the United States. The Bedford Hammer Company was founded in 1857 and became one of the leading manufacturers of hammer-action shotguns. Their hammers are still used today to power shotguns. The first shotgun made in Bedford was a nine-shot revolver called the “Buckmaster”. These revolvers were designed by Captain John J. Buck and manufactured by the Bedford Hammer Company. The Buckmasters were very successful and quickly replaced all other Shotguns in use at that time. During the Civil War, many guns were produced in Bedford including artillery pieces, cavalry pistols, rifle grenades, cannons, and even some machineguns! TheHammer company continued producing firearms until 1910 when they went out of business. However, their hammers remain very popular among Shotgun enthusiasts today!

Bedford is a town in Hancock County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,953 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Bedford is named after General John Bedford and his regiment of Massachusetts Volunteers who fought in the American Revolution. Bedford was founded in 1824 by members of the Methodist Episcopal Church as a trading post on the Wabash River. In 1828 it became an independent town under the name of Bedford Falls when a canal was built through that location. In 1836, Bedford became one of six towns in Hancock County to be annexed by Indianapolis. The annexation created a new city-county government with separate governing powers for each town. In 1861, Bedford voted to secede from Indianapolis and become its own municipality again with a Mayor/Council system similar to those existing in other cities within Indiana's Municipal Districts (MD). However, this referendum failed and instead the town adopted a joint resolution with Indianapolis reaffirming their allegiance to their former city-county government but recognizing that they were now "an integral part" of the newly formed Indianapolis Metropolitan Area (IMA). The successful secession campaign helped generate some hostility toward IMA governments among many residents in Bedford who saw IMA as an artificial entity created by outside interests without their consent or input. The IMA has since been characterized as one of Indy's most successful municipal mandates and continues to grow despite occasional disagreements between its constituent communities over issues such as land use or governance structure. Despite this success, there continue to be areas where tensions between constituents abound; these include heated religious arguments over zoning changes or increased development near schools or libraries which have led to several skirmishes over access to space or resources within individual communities.

Bedford is a small city in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is the seat of Bedford County, and it is located on the eastern edge of the Hoosier Peninsula in central Indiana. The population was 9,822 at the 2010 census. Bedford is one of six townships in Bedford County. The town was founded by George Washington and his band of Patriot soldiers in 1786 during their campaign against France in what is now Northwest Indiana. The town was named for General Sir Edmund Potter Bedloe, 1st Baronet who had been killed during that campaign and whose body lay near the site where Bedford now stands. General John Greenleaf Whipple also had an influence on the town's establishment as he served as its first sheriff from 1802 to 1804 and later as its first mayor from 1806 to 1807. In 1818, when Crawford County was organized, Bedford became part of it and remained so until 1860 when it seceded to form Howard County. In 1902, when Indianapolis became a city, Bedford amalgamated with other nearby villages to form what is today known as downtown Indianapolis. After years of discussion among various officials about whether or not to annex neighboring communities into downtown Indy because they were both growing rapidly and had similar economies (especially after Carbondale annexed Carbondale in 1958), finally a vote was taken on December 6th, 1984 which resulted in Downtown Indy being formed without annexation into any other community along with making many changes including moving City Hallfrom Elmira Avenue eastward across State Street to South First Street; changing Training School Road from Elmira Avenue eastward along State Street south to Boulevard; increasing house-building rates; creating new subdivisions such as “Veterans Park” northeast of Downtown Indianapolis off I-65/Wabash Ave.; adding nightlife districts such as “Broad Ripple” west of Downtown Indianapolis off I-465/New York Rd.; enlarging several parks including Good Shepherd Regional Park north side streets between Vincennes Ave./US 41/National Pike & Speedway Rd./Rio Grande Ave.; creating two high schools – Plainfield High School just north side streets between Vincennes Ave./US 41/National Pike & Speedway Rd./Rio Grande Ave., then expanding Fordham Prep Academy adjacent thereto (opened 2006) – before finally annexing all sixtownships into Downtown Indy on October 15th 2006 effective immediately following passage by both houses of the INDIANA STATE Legislature - proposing that this change be made pursuant to article VIII section one thereof entitled "Proposed Changes To The City Of Indianapolis" - reading: "That said changes be made effective immediately following passage by both houses Of THE INDIANA STATE LEGISLATURE - proposing that this change be made pursuant to article VIII section one thereof entitled 'Proposed Changes To The City Of Indianapolis'" After becoming an official part of downtown Indy, Bedford quickly became known for its shopping district called "Downtown". This shopping district included several commercial buildings dating back to pre-Civil War days including Local 3rd Armored Baptist Church which still exists today (it closed its doors in 2007 but has been preserved as a historical landmark). Other significant businesses located within this district include American Eagle Outfitters (now Macy's), Sears Roebuck & Co., JCPenney Open World Store #531formerly Sears locations throughout America outside Chicago IL(Opened 1997), Anheuser Busch Brewery(now Budweiser Brewing Company)and Wacoal USA(Now H&M). 2ndlargest employer within Downtown Indy are Lucas Oil Stations Inc.(Formerly Chevrolet dealerships)with over 50 stores located throughout Downtown Indy anchoring 2 blocks wide corridor stretching from 5th St NW corner Benjamin Franklin Blvd uptown); architectural features associated with these locations include grandiose brick façades featuring elaborate stone entablatures and spindles above each store window; large copperGivecrest grillwork patterning on facades dating back 4 decades beginning at entranceways
Bedford was founded in 1810 by John Bedford and his wife Deborah. The town grew rapidly after it was granted a charter in 1814. It became a manufacturing center during the 19th century, with cotton production accounting for most of the town's growth. The city experienced its first major fire in 1886, which destroyed much of the downtown area. However, the city rebuilt quickly and prospered thereafter. In 1957, Bedford became one of two cities in Indiana to receive statehood.
