The store continued to be operated by the Frémont family until it was sold to J.B. Roebuck in 1907. In 1912, Roebuck moved the store to its current location on State Street in Bedford. In 1975, the store was closed due to economic problems and reopened under new ownership as an ammo shop and storage facility called AAFE Ammo & Ammunition Warehouse Inc.. It closed again in 2001 when a fire destroyed the building. The store reopened under new management and continues to be operated as an Ammo Shop & Storage Facility today.

Bedford was founded by Scotsman Alexander McNaught in 1814 as a post office on the east side of the Wabash River. The name of Bedford comes from two places: Bedlington in Northumberland, England and bedeaux (a French word meaning "to bind") because of its many cottages that were built to exploit natural resources such as coal and oil shale near Bedford Falls. In 1858, when it became part of Indiana, Bedford had an estimated population of 4,500 people. By 1870, it had swollen to over 10,000 people due to Immigration and Emigration from Ireland and Scotland. In 1871–72 when Ladd's Coppermine opened up on the west side of the river belowpresentday downtown Bedford after being discovered during regular mining operations by local prospector John Hodge (1820–90), much excitement followed because this new copper mine would bring huge profits for those who could find it. However problems soon arose with machine operators getting too close to ore veins; this caused some depletion of available water supplies which led to riots between men working at the mine and those from other nearby settlements when levels dropped dangerously low; one particular incident left 30 people dead or wounded (the worst industrial disaster in Indiana). Eventually proper safety regulations were put into place thanks to public outcry but this underlying problem still persists today with claims by some operators that they are not subject to same regulation as other companies – despite all evidence showing otherwise! One significant result following these riots was thatBedford voters passed a resolution calling for legislation establishing government control over mines within their borders so that accidents could be prevented/mitigated; this eventually led to finally effective regulation more than 50 years later!
