In 1957, the Earmuff Company merged with Browning Arms Corporation to form Browning Firearms Corporation. In 1984, Browning Firearms Corporation merged with Gastineau & Means Incorporated to become Gastineau & Means Incorporated, also known as G&M Industries Inc. Today, G&M Industries Inc is a Division of Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation. The Earmuff Company was first started out making shooting earmuffs for shotguns and rifles. The company made several different types of earmuffs including slip ons, hardshells, closed-toe boots and even an open-topped boot option which allowed users to wear their ears up or down depending on the weather conditions outside. During World War II, the Earmuff Company produced over 1 million earmuffs per month for American soldiers stationed overseas. Additionally, during World War II the company providedEarplug Kits (EKG Kits) for use by military personnel in order to protect their hearing from harmful sound exposures while deployed overseas. In 1957, Browning Firearms Corporation merge with Gastineau & Means Incorporated to form Browning Firearms Corporation which would later become Gastineau & Means Incorporated again when it merged into Smith & Wesson Holding Corp in 1984

Avon is a town in northeastern Indiana, United States. The population was 15,724 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Dunkirk Township. The first European to visit what is now Avon was French explorer Jacques Marquette in 1679. In 1795, Englishman James K. In 1851, Jeptha Bemis organized a group of farmers who leased 1,500 acres (500 ha) of land north of Dunkirk from the government for $3 per acre ($/ha). They called their new community "Dunkirk." Over time, many other names were applied to Avon including: Black Hawk Junction; Buffalo Billiards; General Wright's Ranch; Bellefontaine Settlement; Beaver Dam Landing; Bushnells Landing; Canadian National Railways Station - Allendale Terminal depot - Allendale Branch Railroad station - Canadian National Railway line running along Main Street from east to west - Elmira Depot on mainline railroads located between Allendale Junction and New Albany Junction The post office at Avon opened on July 25th, 1878 under the name "Allendale." On November 3rd, 1886, it became "Dunkirk." On September 1st 1935, it merged with neighboring Dunkirk township to form a new township known as "Avon Township". As of 2010 there are 15 businesses located within this township that employ over 100 people. According to 2000 US Census data: 9% White (non-Hispanic), 93% Black or African American (non-Hispanic), 2% Native American or Alaskan Native (non-Hispanic), 0% Asian Pacific Islander (non-Hispanic), 6% Hispanic or Latino (of any race), and 96% unmarried females counted as unmarried individuals rather than married females only because these figures do not include those who have divorced or separated from their husbands/wives since 2000

Avon is a small town in Hoosier County, Indiana. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. It was platted on December 12, 1871, by W.H. Phelps and C.F. Smith with the name of "Avon".
