The mill produced lumber for many buildings in Avon and surrounding towns including Priscoe School and Presbyterian Church as well as many other local homes and buildings until it closed down in 1979 due to financial problems.

After being rebuilt following the fire, this mill became one ofAvon's most important commercial institutions until it ceased operations in 1967 due to financial difficulties. Settlers continued to arrive throughout Avon's history; many making their homes near where they operated businesses or working out agreements for exclusive trade access with one another early on in their interactions with each other community members. In 1840s there were around 20 residents living within what is now Avon limits; however by 1860 there were only 7 residents remaining while 3 more had moved away within 10 years!
