In 1892, a group of businessmen in Avon, Indiana decided to start a holster company. They named their company Holster Manufacturing Company. The business grew quickly and by 1912, they had opened a second location in Mishawaka, Indiana. By 1915, the company was producing holsters for many different types of firearms. In 1918, the company became an importer and distributor of custom-made holsters for law enforcement use. In 1924, Holster Manufacturing Company merged with another holster company to form Browning Arms & Ammunition Corporation. This merger allowed Browning to produce holsters under one name and make them available at a wider variety of stores. From here on out, Holster Manufacturing Company would be known as Browning Firearms Corporation (BFC). TheHolster Manufacturing Company continued making high quality holsters until it closed its doors in 1966.
