Avon, Indiana is a small town in the northwestern corner of the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute–Kokomo, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Avon has been settled by Europeans for over three centuries and was first named after Anthony Avon, an Englishman who visited in 1787. In 1824, John Pemberton founded what would become Avon Township and named it after his birthplace in England. The township grew rapidly and by 1830 had a population of 1,500 people. In 1836, Avon became a county seat when Lafayette County was created from parts of Hendricks and Whiting counties. The post office called Avon "Avery" until 1888 when it changed to "Avondale". The name change may be related to the discovery of coal oil in that area during that time period which led to increased development in the town's economy as well as new residents moving into town from surrounding rural areas seeking employment opportunities with this new source of income. In 1924-1925, Avondale won first place in an annual poll conducted by The Indianapolis Journal to find America's " Favorite Small Town." At that time it consisted only of men under 50 years old because women had not yet reached voting age (18). Eventually other towns acrossIndiana followed suit including Kokomo (1927), Fort Wayne (1929), Gary (1930), Muncie (1932), and even Vincennes (1945). Today there are more than 12 thousand active citizens living within its borders making it one of America’s most vibrant small townsspeople communities heritage continues on today!

In 1841,the British Admiralty submitted a design for a watertight light device that could be mounted on an HMS “Glebe” during naval engagements in the Mediterranean Sea. After years of development,the navy finally received its own version of the gunlight in 1875 known as the “Mark I” light system. Since its inception,gunlights have been used extensively throughout world history to signify the presence of firearmsrelated equipment and personnel within range. Some of the most famous firearm related events that have been documented through gunlight use include World War II; The Oklahoma City Bombing; The Boston Tea Party; and numerous others. As technology continues to evolve, so too does the way in which gunlights are used to mark various important moments in history.

Avon, Indiana is a small town in central Indiana. The population was 2,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute metropolitan area. The history of Avon began with two settlers, Daniel and Susie Griggs, who arrived in 1829 and 1830. They built a cabin on the banks of the White River. In 1831, they married Anna Hinkle and started to grow crops and raised livestock. In 1835, John Aspinwall settled in what is now Avon and began to build a log cabin on what is now Main Street. He became known as the early settler of Avon because he erected the first school building in this community. In 1836, he married Sarah Churchill and started to farm with their children. The Griggs family continued to live inAvon until 1862 when they moved to Terre Haute because of political differences over Reconstruction South America (Mexico). In 1870, James Pritchard came to Avon from Hendricks County and established a flour mill on Main Street which remain today as one of Avon's most important businesses. He also founded an elementary school which still operates today as one of the town's most important institutions.
