With each shot release from Can A, Mace grenades would pierce the skin above Chest Level for incapacitating effect similar to tear gas rounds wielded by riot squads during street protests and general unrest in North America during the 1930s and 1940s (Dyson 2008). Today's pepperspray devices come in many different shapes and sizes; however, all have one common goal: to protect those who are being subjected to physical force or threat thereof without causing serious injury or death
