Gun magazines have a long and varied history in Zion, Illinois. A variety of magazines were published throughout the years to provide an outlet for gun owners in the city. One of the earliest gun magazines was The Rifleman, which was published from 1871-1876. It was started by Captain Wm. H. Goudreau, a man who had served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Captain Goudreau used his experience as a rifle instructor to help produce this magazine. Another early Gun Magazine was The Armory, which was published from 1881-1883. It was started by two brothers named John and Josiah Armoury. They were able to get funding from local businessmen to produce this magazine and publish it monthly. In 1885, The Armory began publishing its own newspaper called The Arsenal which lasted until 1886 when it merged with another gun magazine called The Review. The first issue of The Review featured an article about handgun handling that has been referred to as one of the first ever articles on firearms written by a professional journalist! The Zion Rifle and Pistol Magazines were started in 1892 by P.J. Herron and J.C. Smith, two of the early gunsmiths in Zion. The first issue was published on October 5th, 1892. The mag was designed to be able to hold six rounds per magazine. At that time, there were only a few handguns available in Zion, so this magazine was especially important for shooters who needed to keep their firearms fresh!
Zion is a small town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 716 at the 2010 census. Zion is located on the banks of the White River. It has been a community since 1825 and was named for Emanuel Swedenborg, a Lutheran preacher who died in 1795. The name Zion may have come from either Emanuel Swedenborg or John Woolridge, an early settler who also donated land to the town. Zion was platted in 1825 by Solomon Winchester and others as part of a larger townsite called Newtonville. In 1829, Zion's first post office was established. By 1840, there were twelve buildings in the town and it had a population of ninety-six residents. In 1853, Zion became the site of what would become one of America's first two high schools - Trinity Academy School (later Illinois State University). In 1860, when Illinois became a state, Zion became one of its seven townships. In 1870–71, construction began on Zion National Cemetery which served as both local death certificates and final resting place for many pioneers who had founded Zion during its earliest years including Ebenezer Robinson (1814–1901), Hiram Sibley (1821–1900), Lorenzo Dowling (1824–1920), James Kapp (1827–1910), Amos Kendall (1800–1890) and other early settlers such as George Stephenson (1792–1864). Additionally, during that time period over 2 million people visited Zion National Cemetery – making it one of America’s largest cemetery systems at that time. Today’s fence around the cemetery dates back to 1921 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated it as part of his New Deal program to help preserve national monuments like Independence Hall across America following World War II while also creating jobs within the national government economy through graves being used more for tourism now than dead bodies! Zion began hosting summer festivals in 1976 featuring art exhibitions/ torches-a-night with live music nightly starting at 10pm; food booths throughout each day; games; etc.; becoming known as "The Nightlife Capital Of The World." These events continue every year until Labor Day weekend with Over 100 bands playing all night long outdoors with zero complaints from neighbors about noise levels!

Zion, Illinois is a small town located in Kane County, Illinois. The population was 1,902 at the 2010 census. Zion was founded by Mormons in 1847. It is the only Mormon settlement in Kane County. In 1868, Zion was sold to the Kanabaspeake tribe for $1,000. The Kanabaspeake people used it as their hunting and fishing ground until 1978 when they were forced out of their land by the state of Missouri. Since then, Zion has been a part of the Kiowa Indian Reservation and it is home to the Kiowa Tribe's cultural center and museum. Zionism began on December 12, 1847 when Brigham Young organized a group of Latter-day Saints who traveled from Nauvoo to New York City looking for new lands to settle in America. On December 15th they arrived at what would later be known as Zion Creek where they built a cabin that still stands today. The first permanent settler in what would become Zion was John Darnall who built his house on top of an old post office building which still stands today (now called Wyoming Lodge). By 1850, there were 10 families living there and by 1865 there were 100+. One reason why Zion became such an important outpost during this time period was because it lay between Nauvoo and Chicago on the Western Great Lakes region which offered opportunities for trade with other regions including Canada and Mexico
Zion is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 3,492 at the 2010 census. Zion was founded in 1847 by Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) pioneers as a community of about seventy people on the banks of the White River. It became an agricultural center and developed into a major political and cultural center for the LDS Church during the 19th century. In 1902, Zion was elevated to city status and began rapid growth due to its location between Chicago and St. Louis. In 1970, it reverted back to rural status following annexation by Chicago.
