Multi-tool history in Yorkville, Illinois began with the first tool chest on the property of Dr. John Jameson in 1836. The first tool chest was made from logs and was crude in design. It would not be until 1845 when a sawmill owner, George Haggerty, decided to purchase a small toolsmith shop on his farm that would become the nucleus for what would become known as the "Haggerty Tool Works." The shop was located on the south side of town and produced various types of tools including anvils, chisels, hammers, pliers and others. The success of this business led to other shops being opened throughout central Illinois by 1855. By 1870 there were fifteenTool Works locations in Illinois producing over 1 million tools annually! The development of hand-held power tools during World War II had a significant impact on multi-tool production. Handheld power tools became popular due to their convenience and easy use for smaller hands.Production at the Haggerty Tool Works stopped abruptly during World War II due to wartime restrictions on resources. However, after the war resumed production resumed at some of the old factories but mostly new plants were built in southern Illinois (near Carbondale) because that is where demand for these products outweighed supplies available from northern sources. In 1957 Tool Works merged with two other companies - Milwaukee Tool Co., Inc., and DeWitt & Company - forming AmericanIndustries Incorporated which remained active until 1984 when it merged with fellow AmericanIndustries company Wartime Steel Corporation creating Wartime Steel Corp.. This process left AmericanIndustries Incorporated as one surviving company providing products under three different brands nameplates - Grinding Gear Technology (GCT), Dayton Smith (DYN), and Sperry Marine (SMP).

Yorkville is a city in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,362 at the 2010 census. The city is part of the Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. Yorkville was founded in 1871 by German immigrants and was incorporated as a city in 1901. It became a suburb of Springfield in 1968. The name "Yorkville" is derived from the town of York, England which was founded by English settlers in the area that now includes Springfield Township on the north side of the Kankakee River. The first settler to arrive in what is now Yorkville was John Dorney who arrived on November 21, 1847 and named his new homestead "Dorney's Farm". One hundred years later, on October 15th, 2018 - just two weeks after Mayor George Wuerzbicka's proclamation honoring veterans of World War II - local historian Jerry Flournoy announced that Dorney had actually been buried there! His remains were exhumed from his resting place and brought back home to be re-interred at Valley View Cemetery alongside those of his wife Anna (née Schlager) Dorney and children Edward (Ed), Harry (Harry), Flora (Flora), John H., Clarence W., Emma E., Alice B., & Nancie A.(1909-1987). In 1871, some Germans started to come overlanders through Wisconsin Rapids and came downriver to Yorkville where they built a log cabin on Center Street near present day South Ave. In 1875 they started trading with Indians along Center Street where they called their settlement "Munster". There were also other early settlers such as Isaac Fenton who settled near what is now Elmira Road/Route 128 south of Center Street in 1876. By 1880 most of this original German village had burned down due to an outbreak of smallpox that year; however some structures still stand including:uberkuhlhaus (or oven house), schloss(castle), parsonage(parsonage house). It wasn't until 1901 when City Councilman Jens Lofgren decided it would make more sense for Yorkvilians to have their own city hall since all the businesses within their boundaries did not operate together or share services like Streets Department or Parks Department like they did within Springfield Township which served as their community center with courtrooms, libraries etcetera. On April 10th 1901 City Hall was dedicated with Mayor Jens Lofgren presiding over the dedication service including remarks from then state Senator George Armoury who stated “This hall represents much good work done by our citizens group hereabouts during these past few years” . In 1912 Victory Park located on North Main Street between West Side Road and East Side Road opened its gates for public use becoming one of many parks around town during this time period which included: First Congregational Church (), Masonic Temple (), American Legion Hall (). After World War I many residents left town for various reasons such as cheap labor available outside Chicago while others didn't find enough opportunity or money inside Pullman so eventually most people returned soon afterwards but some stayed behind including: Mrs John Gorman ()John Pflueger (), Mrs Mary Schmitz (). Most residents moved out again after World War II when production jobs increased outside town while others chose not to leave because they felt it would've been tough living close enough to get decent job opportunities without even relocating though admittedly times have definitely changed some things such as school district boundaries which have shifted several times making it difficult for students living close by today . During prohibition era many people made money selling beer directly from cars either at intersections or off street lots although police sometimes raided these sales areas resulting in arrests; however overall alcohol sales generally ceased following repeal . Today most people who live within walking distance of downtown enjoy all types food options imaginable whether it be Italian places like Dante's Pizza (), Asian restaurants (), fast food places () etcetera although there are still a few spots left hidden away among high rises like Parkview Tower (). However despite everything good happening Downtown lately something has always seemed missing – an active nightlife! Well guess what? That's right – you can finally expect things to start happening once again starting next week when we plan on hosting our very own music festival called "Strawberry Fields Live!" This event will feature both local artists AND international acts throughout our widest geographic area making sure everyone gets exposure no matter where they are standing! Today almost every single neighborhood has its own business district centered around either Market Square Shopping Centre() or Stadium Square Shopping Centre() although Stadium Square recently underwent renovation adding yet another business district centering around Millennium Mall(). It seems nothing ever stays static long anywhere especially when it comes to Yorkvilians love affair with shopping!. So if you're feeling entrepreneurial try setting up your own business venture SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!! HAHAHAHA
