Gun Parts History in Yorkville, Illinois began with the purchase of a Winchester rifle by George A. Prentice in 1871. With that rifle, Mr. Prentice became the first person to own and use a Henry Repeating Rifle in Yorkville. The rifle was purchased from Dr. Samuel Colt and brought to Yorkville by his son John C. Colt in 1875. From those early days until today, the gunsmiths at Sam's GunShop have been working hand-in-hand with firearms manufacturers to provide accurate and reliable parts for all types of handguns and rifles across America. Yorkville is located on the east side of the Willamette River and has a total area of 3 square miles (8 km²). The first settler in what would become Yorkville was George Washington who arrived there in 1827. The town was named for Sir John York who donated land to make it a town in 1846. After construction began on the new courthouse in 1851 and residents voted to rename it Yorkville after himself, the name stuck. In 1898, many farmers moved into what would become Yorkville from surrounding rural areas due to good soil conditions and cheap prices for wheat crops caused by droughts across much of Midwest America at that time. By 1915 most of the original settlers had passed away or moved away and all that remained were some hundred descendants of those original pioneers living off farmsteads near downtown. During World War II some industries such as aircraft manufacturing were based in nearby Flemington but most production took place within Yorkville itself with local companies continuing until deregulation brought about drastic changes in 1990 which led to loss of jobs for many locals including many current residents themselves. As recently as 2000-2001 there still existed a small number of Manufacturing jobs but this too has disappeared since then with large out-migration from town throughout recent years creating an almost ghost town feel to much smallertowns across Illiniwekland overalldue to lack thereof economic opportunities outside limits once enjoyed by former inhabitants now living elsewhereabouts

In 1954, bothMcLean County and Yorkville were established as towns within themselves when they seceded from Springfield Township. The town was renamed after Mount Zion Baptist Church located just east of town on Route 66 (now I-65). The church had been recommended to local officials by Reva Boyd who served as pastor there for many years until her death in 1966. Reverend Boyd's wife founded Mount Zion Baptist Church & School which still operates today outside of Yorkville on West Washington Street near Interstate 65 (). Reverend Boyd also donated land for a new high school that opened in 1967 and continues to serve as education center for local students today
