Thornhill served as a center for Methodist education in what is now Worth prior to its incorporation into McLean County in 1859. In 1865, when Worth began annexing adjacent communities such as Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights, it became clear that there was no room for all three denominations within its boundaries alone; so, in 1870, Methodists amalgamated with Baptists to form “The Baptist Union” and from then on, both denominations shared leadership and control over their respective congregations within the new town government. With only 1,200 residents at the time of its incorporation into McLean County – less than half of what it would eventually become – Worth quickly achieved notoriety as one of America's most isolated towns due to its strict gun laws and prohibitionist leanings. However, this reputation soon began to fade following centuries-old traditions within both denominations which discouraged members from mixing with non-members; eventually becoming respected among locals for their staunchly independent spirit even though they lived outside the town limits. With this strong core culture intact however - including an annual parade through downtown featuring local businesses - worth regained some level of popularity throughout the years before steadily growing again starting around 2000 when consolidation occurred across several neighboring municipalities making it easier to get around city ordinances banning open carrying firearms without a license or permit (though still technically against federal law). In 2013-14 however another large annexation resulting in over 4100 residents bringing more business opportunities to townspeople since reincorporation – giving hope that continuing growth may finally begin considering how best to serve everyone rather than just those who can afford it while also preserving old traditions & values

By 2000 it had only a population of 727. However, due to gentrification by affluent professionals moving into old homes in the village, its population has since grown back up to over 1,000.
