Woodstock was a small town in Hancock County, Illinois, United States, located about two miles east of the current day village of Woodstock and about three miles north of the former village of Springdale. It remained open until 1904 when it closed due to financial difficulties. In 1851, Nathan Sittenfeld bought land near present-daySpringdale for $10 per acre (approximately ). He established a farm called "Sittenfeld's Prairie". The farm grew into one of the largest cotton plantations in Illinois with over 100 acres (40 hectares). Sittenfeld died childless in 1865 and left his estate to his nephew Samuel Tilden who began farming it under new management name Tilden & Company which continued operations until 1923 when it merged with Armour Meat Packers Incorporated to form Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation

Woodstock, Illinois is a small town located in McLean County, Illinois. The population was 1,815 at the 2010 census. Woodstock was founded on February 14, 1892 by farmers J.D. and Mabel Hirschfeld along the now-disused Old York Road. The name of the community honors John Lennon and Yoko Ono who were frequent visitors to nearby Harrisonburg, Virginia in the early 1970s. The original town plat included a school and a post office; however, these did not come into use until after World War II when Hawthorne School opened in 1951 and then Woodstock Junior High School in 1957 which became the first high school in town. In 1962, the first public library opened within walking distance of the town center; however it closed in 2003 due to budget cuts. Today there are only two churches left within close proximity of each other: First Congregational United Methodist Church (founded 1865) and Second Presbyterian Church (founded 1912). Like many small towns during this time period, Woodstock experienced rapid growth due to agriculture and manufacturing interests that came migratory from larger cities during the post-World War II boom. Factory jobs started coming back into town after NAFTA made products available for export again which led to more businesses opening up throughout Illinois including woodworking companies such as Weiser & Co., American Weiser Company, and Western Weiser Corporation which helped revive local economies within 25 years or so of their establishment!
The town of Woodstock was founded in 1846 by a group of Upper Midwest farmers. The community developed around a small religious school, the first in Illinois, and a tannery. In 1857, the community acquired its first post office. By 1865, Woodstock had become an important stagecoach stop on the Illinois Central Railroad. In 1876, the town became part of Rock Island County, Illinois.
