Woodridge is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 24,898 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Cook County after Chicago. Woodridge is located on the Fox River near its confluence with the Des Plaines River. The first settler in what would become Woodridge was John Kane in 1824. He and his family left Liverpool for America and arrived in what is now Woodridge on July 3, 1825. Kane started a log cabin and built a small shop on the site of modern-day Central School District office building that still stands today. In 1830, he married Maria Tingley and they had six children: John (1831-1906), Mary (1834-1893), Sarah (1836-1907), Ellen (1839-1920), Daniel (1841-1923) and Christina (baptized December 12, 1843). In 1847, Captain Jacob Weiland founded Weiland's Landing on the Fox River about south of where Central School now stands. This landing served as an importer/exporter mercantile business until it closed in 1865 when Wooden Bridge replaced it upstream from that spot. The land which became current day downtown Woodridge was originally part of Weiland's Landing site; however due to subsidence caused by several large earth movements during construction of Northwestern Expressway there has been little change to this location since then other than some development around Pioneer Square resulting from changes made to Interstate 94 east of downtown which have not materially impacted that area's use or demographics much over time... The first post office opened at Weiland's Landing on October 25, 1850 under name Northampton because it was located adjacent to Northampton Township owned by General Amos Kendall who also served as Postmaster General during this time period In 1860, Julius Rosenwald purchased 2 acres southwest corner of Milwaukee Street and Prairie Avenue from Captain Jacob Weiland for $140 Rosenwald named his new town "Rosenwaldville" after him . The original plat for Rosenwaldville shows three square blocks with a two story brick schoolhouse built within those blocks . But due to subsidence caused by several large earth movements during construction of Northwestern Expressway there has been little change to this location since then other than some development around Pioneer Square resulting from changes made to Interstate 94 east of downtown which have not materially impacted that area's use or demographics much over time... so far nothing has happened there! One could assume because no one has moved into or developed that space recently that Rosenberg probably never actually did build anything there! If anything people just forget about it all these years later because nobody ever lived there! Every once in a while somebody will reminiscence about it back when things were more interesting but again no one ever builds anything there anymore so who knows if anyone even remembers?

Woodridge is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,358 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago–Naperville–Wheaton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Village of Woodridge was organized on December 12, 1871, as a result of an effort to create a community near the then-new Chicago and Northwestern Railroad tracks. The first settler in what would become Woodridge was George Browning, who arrived in 1872 from Ohio with his family. In 1879, John A. Richardson founded the town of Cicero west of Woodridge and named it after his predecessor as president of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. The village's first store opened in 1870 and became one of the most successful businesses in its time; it operated for over ninety years until it closed its doors in 1970. Other early businesses included a blacksmith shop (1875), bakery (1877), grocery store (1901), post office (1909), recreation hall (1911) and two churches - First Baptist Church (founded 1889) which became one of the earliest African American churches in America; and Second Baptist Church which served until 1957 when it merged into First Methodist EpiscopalChurch Central Park West . In 1915, Lillie Mae Whitney donated land for a new high school which eventually became Woodridge High School . The original building burned down in 1978 but was replaced by a more modern structure that still stands today In 1927, Mayor James Moseley authorized construction of the current Community Center which served as both local government headquarters during prohibition and as home to many local organizations including golf tournaments , choirs , dances & balls etc As part of General Motors' massive investment during World War II , parts were produced here such as engines & transmissions

By 1913, Woodridge had reached its peak population size, with over 1,000 people living there. However, due to World War I and other factors, Woodridge slowly declined over the ensuing years. By 1930, it had only around 100 residents remaining. However, despite its low popularity relative to other nearby towns or villages, Woodridge has remained an important part of Illinois history – both historically and currently.
