Woodridge is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was founded by John P. Woodruff in 1847 as a rural community on the east side of Chicago, about two miles (3 km) north of its present site. At first it consisted only of log cabins and small outbuildings; but soon large Frame houses were built and other public improvements were made. In 1868 the name was changed to Woodridge Village, in order that all residents should be known as one united body. The village became an incorporated municipality in 1978. In recent years Woodridge has undergone significant redevelopment with new housing developments located along Archer Avenue and Park Boulevard which have given the town a more modern appearance and increased access to amenities such as shopping malls, hospitals and universities within walking or biking distance. The early history of Woodridge can be traced back to when John P. Woodruff settled down on what is now the eastern edge of Chicago in 1847 after he purchased 4 acres (1 km) northeast of downtown for $100 from Nathan HalePoston for $4 per acre (0·6 km²). This land had been surveyed by surveyor Daniel Fenton three years earlier while Poston was serving his sentence for violating terms of his parole from prison following his conviction on arson charges that same year. With this purchase, Woodruff became one of the earliest settlers in what would become today's city limits of Chicago – he named his new home "Wolf Lake". The community grew slowly until it had around 20 residents by 1860 when Drury & Hardin LLP donated property across Archer Avenue from Wolf Lake for use as a public school district elections precinct - this marked the beginning of what would become today'sWOODRIDGE Schools system with high school located just southwest/east off State Street near Wrigley Field before moving into their current location adjacent to Hennepin County Courthouse southeast/northwest on State Street in 1975-1977 after merging with neighboring Oak Lawn Township which then merged with Arden Heights Township nearby creating today's Loop Community School District nerve center due to geographic limitations set forth byarteries including I-355 running northwest/southeast past Arden Heights township boundaries into Cook county lines making it difficult if not impossible to build roads or districts leaving many neighborhoods without any form Of education beyond middle/high school while others likeArlington Heights neighborhood maintain full grade level schools 2nd floor classrooms/ corridors going up blocks long

The original settlers were made up of farmers and their families who had come overland from Holland Township on foot or boat. By 1850, there were already more than 100 people living in Woodridge. The early years of Woodbridge’s existence were difficult due to lack of resources and competition from other settlements along the river. However, by 1870, things had changed for the better as industry started arriving for the first time in this part of Illinois. A new mill was built which helped jumpstart production within town limits and allowed for more growth than ever before. By 1915, there were over 1,000 residents living within city limits alone! Today, Woodridge is an important community serving both local and regional needs with its strong economy and vibrant culture. It is home to some of Illinois’s largest corporations as well as some major medical centers - all while continuing to maintain its unique identity among all those located hereabouts!

The area experienced rapid growth during the 1850s as railroads reached central Illinois and people began to move into the town from all over the United States. In 1868, Woodridge became a city and has since grown to become one of Illinois' most populous towns. Today, Woodridge features a variety of businesses and services including an airport (Woodridge Airport), several hospitals (including Northwestern Memorial Hospital), two high schools (one public and one private), and numerous churches and temples.
