Gun chokes are a centuries old method of restraining someone without using any force. The first gun choke was invented in 1540 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte. It consisted of a metal chain with an iron ball at the end, used to strangle someone by holding on to their neck while they were drawing breath. The most common type of gun choke is the standard closed choke, which constricts air flow through the vocal chords and reduces breathing capacity. Other types of gun chokes include open or side-choked guns, which allow more air flow and can be more dangerous because they can be used to strangulate people from behind or behind their back

Wood River is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,876 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settlers in what is now Wood River were farmers who came from New England in the early 17th century. They started a small community on the north shore of the Fox River where they built a log cabin and raised chickens and pigs. In 1827, they moved to what is now south side of town and developed a mill that still operates today. The mill produced flour, sugar, coal tar and other products until it closed in 1951. In 1847, John Pritzker bought land east of town and began to develop it into what is now downtown Wood River. He built several churches and schools as well as two hotels – one called Park Avenue Hotel and another called Regency hotel – which are still standing today. Pritzker also founded the Chicago Board of Trade which continues to operate today as one of Chicagos most important businesses. His donations helped make Wood River one of Americas largest towns by 1860. After Pritzkers death in 1893, his son Harry became president of Chicago Land Company which purchased much of what is now downtown WoodRiver from Pritzker's estate for $1 million dollars This made downtown Woods river one of Chicagos most significant developments during the Progressive Era era because it provided much needed tax revenue to support city growth during that time period . Harry also donated many acres (now parts of State Street) across from City Hall to help make downtown Woodsriver more pedestrian-friendly with new streets named after him such as Regency Boulevard , Park Avenue Boulevard etc). After his death in 1924, his widow Sarah married George Romney who served as mayor from 1945-1951 Abraham Lincoln Adams served as mayor from 1951-1957 before becoming an unsuccessful candidate for re-election . After Mrs Adams died in 1957 she was succeeded by her daughter Jane Addams who became Mayor again from 1981 until her retirement in 2001 ! In 2002 John Wirthman announced he would run against Addams but didnt achieve any success so he withdrew his candidacy ! On November 3rd 2001 local residents voted 617 to 563 not including absentee ballots making Ms Addams’s final term effective December 15th2001

In the early 1800s, firearms were only available to the wealthy and powerful.owners of arsenals could purchase a limited amount of pistols and shotguns. Only men who were Licensed Gunsmiths could make and fix firearms. There was no standardization of choke threads or other Firearms safety features. One such firearm was the Browning repeating rifle, which had a variety of choke types includingnianual, open-top, fixed-choke (the most common type), Manual chokes (a type used with old guns that needed to be cocked by hand) and single shot rifles (single shots that fired one round). As handguns became more popular in America, manufacturers began producing pistols with different choke types as well. By 1892, all U.S. states had adopted some form of standardizing gun safety features so that guns could be bought without any special requirements or qualifications from licensed dealers across the country

When the first Europeans arrived in Illinois, they found a land that was already inhabited by Native Americans. The area around Wood River was first settled by the Potawatomi Nation in the early 1800s. The region was then known as the Mississippian culture. The Potawatomi were a powerful tribe that controlled much of central and northern Illinois. Their territory extended from present-day Wisconsin to Iowa and from Minnesota to Arkansas. They also had influence in present-day Michigan and Ohio. The Mississippian culture was a series of cultures that developed in Mesopotamia between about AD 1000 and 1600. Its members built complexes called mounds, which are large, artificial hills or mountains used for burials, storage, and other purposes. In addition to their pottery and architecture, these people developed several thousand miles of trading routes that connected the eastern United States with Asia and Europe. Eventually, the Mississippian Culture disappeared due to competition from other groups who moved into what is now Illinois during the late Woodland period (about 750-1350). This new group of people called themselves the Pawnees arriving from Oklahoma during this time period replaced many of the older cultures in central America.

The first people to live in what is now Wood River were the Potawatomi. The area was first inhabited by the Shawnee and other American Indian tribes. In 1812, General James Wilkinson of the United States Army built a fort on the banks of the river. The fort was called Fort Dearborn, after then-President George Washington’s father. The fort was used as a military post during the War of 1812. In 1834, Illinois became a state and Wood River became part of it. The first white person to settle in what is now Wood River was Colonel John Fitch, who built a cabin near where he later died in 1836. Other early settlers included Isaac Goodloe and his family and Levi Coffin from Vermont. For many years, only Native Americans lived in what is now Wood River; however, beginning in the late 1800s Europeans began settling here as well. In 1840, entrepreneur Nicholas Biddle founded Biddle’s Bank at present-day North First Street and State Avenue in Peoria. Biddle bank quickly became one of the largest banks in Illinois due to its lending capabilities for farmers and businesses across all sectors of society. At its peak, Biddle’s Bank had over $100 million in assets under management. In 1865, when Abraham Lincoln was elected president, Biddle bank helped finance his inauguration ceremony as President of America with an initial sum of $10 thousand dollars
