Businesses included: three banks (JPMorgan Chase & Co., Wells Fargo & Co., BB&T Bank), two grocery stores (Super Cub Foods Inc., Kroger), two mechanics shops (National Pump and Transmission Company), one printing shop (Goudreau Printing Pressing Workshops), one restaurant (Dinah's Place), one lumber yard (Lumberyard Supply Company) and six single family homes. There were also four churches - First Baptist Church of Wood Dale which had 441 members as of 2010; Second Presbyterian Church which had 121 members as of 2010; Methodist Episcopal Church which had 97 members as of 2010; Lutheran church - Evangelical Lutheran Synod - saw 680 member baptisms as of 2010; and Oneida Community Chapel with 223 members as of2010 There are no schools within walking distance of most residents so education must be obtained elsewhere including public or private schools in neighboring communities such as Aurora or Park Ridge

Wood Dale, Illinois is a small town located in the northwest corner of Cook County, Illinois. The population was 3,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village was named for Isaac Wood (1798-1868), an American Revolutionary War officer and politician who served as Mayor of Chicago from 1846 to 1848. The first settler in what is now Wood Dale was George Hinkle (1813-1885). In 1871, John A. Foote bought 640 acres (270 hectares) of land south of present-day Wood Dale from Abram French for $2 per acre. Foote renamed his property "Wood Dale" after his home county, Ireland. That year also saw the birth of America's first schoolteacher and superintendent, Rev. James Laddie Morrison (1792-1864). In 1902, John Fenton built a large frame farmhouse on what is now Fourth Street in Wood Dale after purchasing land from French for $4 per acre. He became one of the early settlers in what would become known as the Village of Wood Dale because he donated all but one block of blocks on First Avenue between Douglas Road and Kedzie Avenue to build what would eventually be called "Fenton Park." The other block he donated was on Euclid Avenue north side between Wayne Boulevard and State Street which still forms part of today's Village center arterial road gridlock artery Renaissance Drive / Prairie View AVE
The village of Wood Dale was founded in 1846 by a group of farmers led by Peter H. Smith. The village grew rapidly and by 1865 had a population of 400 people. In 1887, the village became a city and it remained so until 1978 when it reverted back to its original name.
