A holster is worn on the outside of the pants leg below the waistband and is designed to keep firearms in place while being carried. Some common Holster Types include: Pistol Grip and Carrying Belt Holsters Pistol Grip and Carrying Belt holsters typically have a fabric strap around one side that wraps around your waistband and attaches to either your belt loop or another part of your clothing. Typically these holsters come in two versions- open-faced (see photo above) which exposes the barrel for firing if needed and closed-face (see photo below) which keeps the barrel covered when not in use Closed-face pistols often have a Picatinny rail on one side allowing you to mount optics such as a scope or laser sight without having to remove the entire holster. Open faced pistols usually do not have this rail so they must be mounts using aftermarket accessories such as post/grip covers, muzzle brakes, etc.. The benefit of using an open face holster over a closed face holster is that when you draw down on your gun's handle there will be no movement of the ammunition magazine inside your handgun - keeping things safe while carrying!
The holster company Holster-k had its origin in Wood Dale, Illinois. The company was founded in 1904 by Captain John A. Holster and his brother, Dr. George W. Holster. The company was started as a leather holster company and began manufacturing holsters for the military. By 1915, the company had become a holster manufacturer for law enforcement agencies all over the United States. In 1921, Captain John A. Holster passed away and his brother Dr. George W. took over ownership of the business and continued to produce high quality holsters until his death in 1938.
The history of Wood Dale, Illinois is long and colorful. The village was first settled in 1836 by a group of farmers who traveled from Illinois. The area that now makes up Wood Dale was first known as the Village of Racine, and it was only after the death of President Abraham Lincoln in 1865 that the name Wood Dale became popular. After years of being a small farming community, Wood Dale began to grow rapidly in the early 1800s. By 1850, the population had reached 1,000 people. In 1868, when Chicago annexed much of Lake County, Wood Dale become part of Chicago. However, despite this setback, the town continued to grow and prosper until World War II when it lost its importance as a manufacturing center due to war-related production shortages. However, since then (since 1945), growth has once again resumed in Wood Dale with new businesses established and more people moving here to live and work. Today, there are over 10K residents living in forests within walking distance of each other – making it one of America’s most vibrant communities for outdoor enthusiasts. In 1871, Wood Dale was founded by John W. Work and his brother-in-law, David Rowland. The town was named after the nearby wooded area where they were living at the time. Work had been a surveyor for the Illinois Central Railroad and saw the potential for development in what he found. He started construction on what is now Wood Dale's downtown square in 1870 and it soon became an important stop on traffic to central Illinois. The town grew rapidly due to its location and its easy access to transportation. In 1881, work began on a new courthouse which was completed in 1886. The courthouse served as the center of town until it was replaced by a new building in 1949. The original brick building still stands today and is used as office space for the town government. Wood Dale also played an important role during World War II. When Germany invaded Poland in 1939, Wood Dale quickly mobilized its citizens to help fight against their enemy. Many of these people stayed in Wood Dale through the war, helping build homes, businesses, and other items that helped contribute to postwar growth. After World War II ended, many of these same people returned home and resumed their normal lives within the community; thisled to its current form as a small rural town with close knit relationships between residents."
The town of Wood Dale was founded in 1881 by the brothers George and Benjamin Strong. The first post office was established in1882, and the first store was opened in 1884. By 1890, the population had grown to over 100 people. In 1907, the town passed an ordinance establishing a school system. The first high school opened in 1912, and the first college course began in 1916. In 1928, the Wood Dale Manufacturing Company was founded, and soon became one of Illinois' leading manufacturers of automobiles and other vehicles. During World War II, Wood Dale served as a base for military operations in central Illinois. After the war ended, many businesses closed down but remain standing such as Wabash Mutual Insurance Company and Hometown Paperie Incorporated.
