Wood Dale is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield metropolitan area. The community was founded by John C. Wood in 1856 as a result of the opening of the Central Pacific Railroad. In 1870, it became a county seat and remained so until 1925 when Rockford took over that role. The first post office in Wood Dale was established on February 17, 1872. The name change to Wood Daleville in 1893 due to confusion with nearby Rollingwood and Rollingstone, both also in McLean County but two miles (3 km) south of Wood Dale; and because "dale" means "plain." According to the 2010 census, 92% of residents are white, 5% are black or African American, 0% are Native American or Alaska Native, 2% are Asian orPacific Islander, 2% are from other races, and 1% identify as multiracial or multicultural. The median household income is $73,500 versus $42,500 for Springfield metro area residents; however real estate prices here tend to be much higher due to its location within close proximity to major economic areas like Chicago and Detroit. But despite being relatively affordable housing options for those who can afford it (especially compared with other towns located near these larger cities), Wood Dale has seen some significant growth recently thanks largely to its relationship with Speed dating site Tinder which relocated its operations from Chicago into town earlier this year after years of debate about their impact on local businesses and community fabric - especially given that many locals say that Speed dating simply isn't what made them choose Wood Dale over other potential locations: " wooddale is just too bland".

Wood Dale, Illinois is a small town located in the northwest corner of Cook County, Illinois. The population was 9,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Wood Dale was founded in 1854 by John Wesley Hardin and his family as a station on the Great Western Railroad. The village grew rapidly during the early 1900s due to its close proximity to Chicago and its natural resources such as lumber and coal. Today, Wood Dale is a vibrant community with a rich history that has been shaped by its founders and residents. John Wesley Hardin founded Wood Dale in 1854 as a station on the Great Western Railroad. hardin's parents had moved from Kentucky to start a new life in what is now Wood Dale after their farm failed in 1841. soon after arriving in this new location, Hardin started building cabins for himself and his family while also exploring potential land grants that could be used for wooded villages near Chicago. In 1863, Hardin donated 4 acres (1 ha) of land to establish Wood Dale Village which he named after himself and his wife Sarah JaneHardin-Miller. The village quickly grew thanks to its close proximity to Chicago, its natural resources (particularly lumber and coal), and Hardin's generosity. By 1870, Wood Dale had more than 100 residents including many farmers who had come to help expand the village's services including groceries, transportation, schools, libraries, churches etc.. With so many people living near each other it was easy for them all to get together for social events such as dances or picnics . By 1915 there were over 350 residents living within walking distance of each other making it one of the most densely populated villages in America During World War I , Wooddale became an important military base due to its location just outside of Chicago on Hennepin County property (). During this time many civilians volunteered their time working at various munitions plants around Chicagoland while also helping build roads., bridges/tunnels etc... After World War I ended hostilities ceased but not before numerous troops from both sides were stationed here including soldiers who served under General George Patton during World War II In 1927 Browning gun manufacturer James Browning donated land east of downtownChicago towards north where today stands his old factory building known as "The Factory" Now home to several restaurants,.a shopping mall,,and some residential units
The village of Wood Dale, Illinois was organized in 1871. The first settler in the area was John Fenton.
