Of those living in their own villages, 66% were employed full-time within them; 31% worked part-time outside their villages. In terms of age distribution, 26%of residents were under the age of 18; 24% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 27% were 25 years old or older; and 17% were 65 years old or older. In terms of gender distribution, 43%of residents identified as male; 47%identified as female; 3%, unidentified; and 2%, did not answer this question. As with most small towns, public education is provided by one school district which encompasses both Wood Dale Village and all other surrounding villages: Cook County School District 211. In addition to public education there are also private schools which offer various courses such as Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12th grade as well as vocational training programs for students who may want to pursue careers in specific fields such as business or engineering

Wood Dale is a small town located in the Illinois River Valley in McLean County, Illinois. According to the 2010 census, the population of Wood Dale was 5,898. The name "Wood Dale" is derived from the Iroquois word wodadah (meaning "wooden stream"). The first settler in what is now Wood Dale was James C. Wright who came to the area in 1851. He built his home on the corner of Maple and Elm Streets. By 1853, there were nine families living in Wood Dale. In 1854, John Hargrave moved to Wood Dale from Bloomington and started a grocery store at 304 Elm Street. In 1855, George Wagoner arrived and started a wagon manufacturing business at 218 Elm Street. In 1860, David Fenton bought land at 402 Maple Street and began to build a cabin named Log Cabin #2 which he called Home Sweet Home. By 1862, there were twenty-five homes in Wood Dale! In 1865-1866 The Chicago & Northwestern Railway constructed a line through McLean County connecting with Chicago via Rock Island Railroad Company tracks east of Belleville. This railroad added much needed wealth and development to the rural areas around McLean County including Wooddale as well as nearby villages such as Davenport and Decatur Township. The arrival of this railroad led to an increase in population along with accompanying changes in lifestyle that include more people commuting into cities for work than ever before! As this new development took place, it also brought about some challenges which saw many people leave their farms for better opportunities outside of their communities; however, many others chose to stay put because they felt inspired by these city-dwellers’ success story and wanted something similar themselves! As time passed residents continued making updates/ alterations/ additions to their homes throughout various decades until finally reaching its current state within our recent past! Many aspects can be found throughout history that have shaped our community today such as: government regulation ( zoning changes ), technological advances ( telephone service ), military deployments ( served during World War II ), economic downturns ( due mainly to Base Realignment & Closure projects ), etc.; but ultimately it is what we make of our history that truly matters!
In 1871, the town of Wood Dale was organized. The community was named after General George Washington Wood who had fought in the American Revolution. The town was first established on a small farm on the east side of Chicago. In 1872, the first post office was opened in the town. By 1886, it had grown to include a population of over 100 people. In 1898, a school was built and a church was also constructed. A gas station and grocery store were also built in this time period. The town growth continued until 1911 when it merged with neighboring towns of North Elgin and Morton to form the city of Wood Dale.
