Wheeling, Illinois is a city in the state of West Virginia that is located on the Ohio River. The population was 5,803 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wheeling-Richmond County, West Virginia Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlement in what is now Wheeling was made by Scotsmen during 1798 as Fort George Wright. The town was named after General Washington and Lady Wright were residents of the town at the time. In 1814, Colonel James Shields founded Shields Mill and began to produce flour and bacon for market in Wheeling. By 1821, Shields Mill had two buildings with a total capacity of 100 acres (40 hectares). A fire destroyed Shields Mill on October 10th, 1824; however it reopened three weeks later with new production capabilities. Wheeling enjoyed prosperous times until 1861 when Confederate forces occupied the city and expelled all Unionists from its premises. After Northern troops recaptured Wheeling in 1865, wheeling their cannons around Broadway Square they found an entire arsenal of old artillery stored within blocks of where they stood! This caused great damage to many storefronts which had to be reconstructed or replaced throughout Reconstruction period For much of this time period firearms manufacturers operated out of private residences not too far away from downtown Wheeling making it easy for gunsmiths to produce firearms without having to leave their workshops nor transport stock across long distances In 1898 – when violence erupted between white supremacists and African Americans near Newport News Circle – a groupof citizens led by Mayor Henson decided that enough was enough and took up arms against white supremacists resulting in one dead and four injured . They also set up an insurance company which became one of the most successful businesses in town . wheeling’s vibrant history can be traced back to these moments

Wheeling, Illinois is a small city located in west-central Illinois. The population was 9,471 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of La Salle County. The city was named for General George Wheeling and his army who fought in the War of 1812. The first settler in what is now Wheeling was James Caldwell, who arrived in 1799. He founded a post office and store on land he purchased from the Kickapoo Indian tribe. In 1814, Adam Gregg built a log cabin near present-day Wheeling and began to trade goods with the Indians. In 1834, John Stephenson moved to this area and started a blacksmith shop that continues to operate today as Stephenson's Forge & Jewelry Store. In 1861, Samuel Gibbs settled here with his family and established himself as an attorney and judge. He also became interested in horse breeding and began buying horses from various farmers adjacent to his farmsteads. In 1865, he organized the town of Wheeling into a government corporation under the name of "Wheeling Township." The township had no mills or other businesses until about 1870 when two men by the name of Bigelow&Mills erected three largetimbered mills which developed into one important industry in Wheeling: quilting fabric production from lace fabrics made from woolen thread; printing paper products such as newspapers; and manufacturing leather goods Grease Guns
