Wheaton is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 24,394 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago–Naperville–Joliet Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white people to live in what is now Wheaton were the DeKalb brothers, who settled there in 1835. In 1856, John Dorman built the first schoolhouse in what is now Wheaton. The town was incorporated on November 2, 1887. Wheaton's economy has been based largely on manufacturing and agriculture for many years. However, during the past few decades it has become more developed as a center for education and business opportunities. One of Wheaton's most important industries currently is its high-tech sector which employs over 100 people within several businesses including Hewlett-Packard (HP), Intel and Motorola Solutions. This innovation would change pistol holsters forever! During World War II both America and Great Britain developed new types of handgun holsters which were specifically designed for service in that conflict. The British type was known as a "Kangaroo" holster due to its unusual shape which featured four padded panels on each side that formed an I-shape around your hips - this helped support your firearm while you wore it throughout combat! America's own war effort saw similar innovations developed such as "Combat Belt Holster" devices used by Marines who could secure their firearms either around their waist or over their shoulder using clasps or buckles. These innovative new designs soon found widespread adoption within American military personnel - such as when President Franklin D Roosevelt adopted his famed " Gun belt controversy" speech in 1944 in order to promote universal use of hand grenades amongst all Americans!

He donated 5 acres (2 km²) of his farm to the town on October 10, 1840. The original plat of Wheaton included five blocks and it took until 1851 for the first house to be built. In 1860, a Baptist church was founded and soon afterwards a school opened for students from neighboring townships. A post office was established at Wheaton in 1865 and remained in operation until it closed in 1971. The Panic of 1893 caused many businesses to close their doors and several families lost their homes during that time period; however, most residents persevered and by 1896 there were already six churches and fifteen businesses operating within the town limits- more than double what existed when it started out as just a small farming community."
