Cabela, an American arms dealer, as a carbine compatible with the then-new 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge. In 1970, Cabela formed Colt Arms Holdings, which purchased ArmaLite Rifle Company—the manufacturer of the AR-15—for $1 million. With ArmaLite’s help, Colt became one of the leading manufacturers of assault rifles in the world. As production volumes grew throughout the 1990s and 2000s, so too did demand for higher quality AR-15 upper receivers; however, availability remained constrained by restrictive government regulations at times. In 2009–2010, Colt produced an improved version of their popular 599 lower receiver called "The New 599." This new lower receiver featured increased strength andogeneity within its parts while still remaining affordable to produce. As a result of these efforts, Colt was able to increase production significantly while reducing costs associated with traditional manufacturing processes

Wheaton is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The Village of Wheaton was organized on December 12, 1837 by the merger of two other villages: North Wheaton and South Wheaton. The name "Wheaton" comes from an early plat map of the township which featured a large wheat field in its center. The first settler to arrive in what would become Wheaton was John Montgomery who arrived in 1839. By 1840, there were 10 residents living in what would become Wheaton Township. In 1848, when the Illinois Central Railroad reached town, a new depot was built across from the old one and soon many businesses opened up because it offered transportation to downtown Chicago. Today most of these businesses still stand including Mtn View Mall and Wawa convenience store; all 3 are located within walking distance of one another as well as several schools (including Northwestern Illinois University), churches (Anglican and Lutheran), and community centers that also offer recreational opportunities such as swimming pools and tennis courts. In 1863-1864 Union General Edwin Mudd helped to build Fort Dearborn north of city limits for use by Majors James Higginson's 7th Cavalry Regiment during the American Civil War along with construction of numerous other fortifications throughout Cook County including Fort Dearborn Park near present day Christmastown neighborhood on Lake Michigan shoreline just south of I-90 exit 427A/1 between White Sox Stadiums). After Confederate forces retreated from Chicago they burned down all but 1 inch high walls surrounding Ft Dearborn which remain today visible only from atop I-90 while looking out over Downtown Chicago

The city's success led to development of other nearby suburbs and eventually led to Wheaton's annexation by Chicago in 1998.
