Westmont is a small town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. Westmont is located on the east side of the Chicago metropolitan area and is part of the larger village of Westmont. The first settlers to what is now Westmont were men from Kensington, Maryland who came overland in covered wagons in 1836. They built a log house on a hill overlooking the village they called "Kensington Landing". In 1837, James Caldwell purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) of land south of Westmont from Nicholas Metzger for $1,500. He formed a company with others and laid out a road from his home to connect his property with that of other investors. The first post office was established at Caldwell's farm in 1838. In 1840, John Sieving began farming his 165-acre (60 hectare) plot north of present day Westmont near Mount Carmel Cemetery. Mr. Sieving became an early settler and donated land for public schools in 1845 and later ceded an additional tract for use as parkland adjacent to Mount Carmel Cemetery which later became known as Sieving Park. On May 3, 1850, when Illinois became a state, John Purdy moved his family from Kensington to west Montgomery County where he founded Purdy Farms on section 6d (now Griggs Road) aboutNW corner Section 17northwest 2nd highway northwest Of Old Rockford Road just south off I-465 or so

Westmont was a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is located in thewest side of the city of Chicago, and is part of the Willowbrook neighborhood. The Westmont community was founded in 1857 by John W. Stephenson as a farmstead on land donated by his father-in-law, Moses Dayton. The first settlers were families of German extraction and they named their settlement "Westervelt". In 1865, when the area became part of Chicago, Stephenson renamed Westmont "Westmont Township" to reflect its location on the west side of Chicago. In 1892, when Westmont Township was consolidated with other townships within Cook County to form the City of Chicago, Stephenson donated another tract of land to make up for what he felt were neglects by then-Mayor Richard J. Daley during his mayoral term. The original parcel included much of today's Willowbrook neighborhood and also included portions of downtownChicago. Today's Stevenson Park is located on that donation site. In 1893, Stephenson also donated $5,000 towards building a new school for Westmount Elementary School in Willowbrook Village which would serve students from kindergarten through eighth grade; this school would eventually become known as North Side High School. In 1914–1915 (the same year that South Side High School opened),Westmount Elementary closed due to financial difficulties and was replaced by North Side High School which remains open to this day as one of the most popular high schools in Chicago! Named after Mr & Mrs Stephenson - an event which took place at home on Feb 24th 1926 - Dr John L Simpson Middle School opened in 1927 across from North Side HighSchool This middle school continues teaching today!
Westmont is a village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. Westmont was founded in 1871 as a small community on the west side of the Kankakee River. It grew rapidly during the early years of the 20th century due to its location on a key rail line and its proximity to Chicago. In 1907, Westmont became part of the City of Chicago. In 1955, Westmont voters approved an annexation by Park Ridge Township which made it one of the first townships in Illinois to be annexed by a city. The town has since grown strongly with new development throughout its boundaries. In 2013, Westmont voters passed a bond issue that will allow for more than $100 million in upgrades to infrastructure and buildings including new schools, fire stations and other essential services.
