Western Springs, Illinois is a small city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The history of Western Springs goes back to 1814 when a group of American soldiers were stationed at Fort Dearborn. They established a trading post on the banks of the Des Plaines River and called it "Western Springs". The post was moved to its current location in 1847 by General John Logan after he won an engagement against Native Americans at White's Ford near modern-day Chicago. The town grew rapidly due to its natural resources - wells and lumber - and became an important transportation hub for goods between Chicago and other parts of the Midwest. In 1925, Western Springs annexed neighboring City of Aurora. In 1933, then Mayor James Phelan announced that Western Springs would become one of six cities in Cook County to establish themselves as "towns". This program aimed to make towns more self-reliant by giving them power over their own finances and affairs such as zoning laws and fire protection. However, this experiment did not work well and soon all but two of the towns ceased operations before they had a chance to implement these changes. In 1949, Eastern Market Company bought out Western Springs' share in the market place for $10 per capita from residents. It remained open until 1978 when it closed because Eastern Market decided not to renew its lease when it expired. In 1990, Eastern Market Corporation sold its interest in the market place back to residents for $50 per capita which remains in use today as Western Spring Park (formerly known as "Eastern Market Plaza"). Today, Western Springs is home to many businesses including several hospitals including Northwestern Memorial Hospital which includes one of only two operating medical helicopters inside Loop 3) In addition there are several restaurants located throughout downtown with a mix of Italianate cuisine typical for this region while also having some unique items like Artisan pizzas made using wildcrafted ingredients found only within this town limits! The downtown district has been designated as a preservation area by Historic landmarks corporation America's Great Lakes Incorporated which promotes serious research into enhancing or preserving localhistoric buildings within walking distance from public areas making it easier for people living nearby not just look at architecture but also experience it by visiting!
From 1875 to 1935, the United States government manufactured and exported several types of light guns. It had a single barrel and an overall length of about 38 inches (100 cm).packaged magazines could hold up to ten rounds each In 1935, the U.S. government passed the National Firearms Act which banned all handguns except those registered with the federal government and those owned by law enforcement officers. The act also required all handgun owners to have a license from their state or local government

In 1898, Western Springs became an agricultural center due to its location near the then-new Central Valley Railroad. Over time, however, agriculture faded and development increased around the new commerce and services areas that grew up around town. Today's economy centers on education and health care with a strong focus on technology companies and other high-tech businesses that have moved into or been founded in Western Springs over recent years.
