The first government consisted of a school superintendent, one justice of peace (a magistrate), four trustees (equivalent to current village trustees), two plowsmen/pickers (an equivalent position today), one blacksmith/forge man (equivalent position today), three white labourers/farmhands (equivalent positions today) – all unpaid citizens acting under direction of their Tory Republican leaders! In 1838 an act was passed by the General Assembly creating Aurora Township within Westchester Township limits; Aurora being named after Major Robert Morton who had led an attack against Native Americans near this location some time earlier.* On November 15th 1830 land comprising parts of modern day Elmhurst Road and portions of present day Cicero Avenue were donated by Isaac Asimov for $1 per acre* This donation provided much needed rural land in addition to White Marsh Marina property located just northeast of town* On July 1st 1840 Jesse Owens won his gold medal at that year’s London Olympics wearing only spikes! ensuing waves of Italian immigrants began flowing into America via Buffalo Neck Ferry which crossed Lake Michigan just east of Cicero Ave* rapid growth continued in Westchester due largely to farming subdivisions initiated by farmers looking for cheap farmland closer to city centers; commercial development followed later when transportation became available A post office opened in 1842 serving both Elmhurst Road & Cicero Ave* A Masonic Lodge #2 met on September 10th 1844 at 219 Clinton Street inside old First Presbyterian Church! The original building still stands across from Cicero Ave Park!
