Telescopes could be bought either new or secondhand, and they could be made with different types of glass lenses that allowed you to see farther away than any other type of lens before. Some people even used telescopes to watch stars at night!

This invention allowed him to see objects at different angles so he could design his Mona Lisa painting using perspective ( Figure 3 ). Another important invention in optical technology came about in 1795 when Claude Shannon developed what is now known as Shannon's coding theorem which stated that all coders can code any finite sequence without losing information ( Figure 4 ). This theory allowed for the development of television broadcasting and other communication methods.
In 1876, a French scientist named François-Jacques Conte invented the first practical and working optical telescope, the pinhole camera. This helped to revolutionize photography and help to pioneer modern scientific research. In 1896, Dutch scientist Jan Hendrik Antoon Lorentz developed the theory of black body radiation, which helped to explain the observed effects of light on matter. In 1927, Heinrich Hertz discovered that light can be broken down into smaller waves and these waves can be seen as particles called photons.
Westchester, Illinois was founded in 1814 by the brothers Joseph and Nicholas Westphal. The original town plat was filed on December 12, 1814. The first post office opened in 1815. In 1860, the village of Westchester merged with the town of Morristown. In 1931, it became a part of the new City of Chicago.
