In 1892, Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail designed a series of target holders that became known as the Morse Holders. The first models were made from wood and leather and had a 6-inch bore. The men who developed these devices took note of the trend of shooting match matches at country fairs in Illinois. They realized that it would be useful to have something easier to hold onto the targets for those matches. So, they designed a new type of holder that was made out of metal with an 8-inch bore. This model became known as the Vail Holder. The Vail Holder was very popular because it allowed shooters to grip onto the target more tightly, which helped improve accuracy when firing at close range. It also eliminated the need for any type of hand rest or stand because you could hold onto the weapon directly on top of the holder. Eventually, other manufacturers followed suit and created their own versions of this type of holder. Some even went so far as to design holders specifically for pistols! These days, there are many different types and designs available onthe market that allow shooters to hold onto their targets with greater precision while still having them within reach.

West Chicago, Illinois is a city located in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 71,914 as of the 2010 census. West Chicago is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. It lies on the west bank of the Calumet River and forms a district with neighboring Oak Park and Skokie. The name "West Chicago" has been derived from its location on the river's left bank between two hills that form an arm of Lake Michigan. The first settlers in what is now West Chicago were farmers who arrived in 1836. They named their town after their Indian allies who had helped them fight against Native Americans during the Battle of Knob Creek: "WEST CHICAGO" means "left bank of the Calumet." A post office was established at West Chicago in 1845, and it remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1912. During World War II, many factories were set up along the western edge of Cook County to help make war materials necessary for America's defense. Many workers lived and worked in WestChicago; however, due to noise levels at these factories and other problems caused by wartime production, many residents moved away during or after hostilities ceased. In 1949, President Harry S Truman issued Executive Order 9662 which ordered all inner-city areas (except those within white flight limits) to be designated “community projects” subject to civil rights monitoring and regulation by federal officials responsible for maintaining public order and promoting racial balance. In response to this order redevelopment plans began flowing into WestChicago from all over Cook County as well as from adjacent suburbs such as Cicero and Elmhurst

However, recent economic revitalization has seen some resurgence in both Evanston and WestChicago since 2000. Today, both communities are growing again thanks to their rich history and importance within Illinois culture overall.
West Chicago, Illinois was the first town in Illinois to be organized. The village of West Chicago was founded on October 15, 1837 by Captain John G. Bourland and Dr. Samuel Morse. By 1845, there were over 100 residents in West Chicago. The town was named for Colonel James W. West who donated land to the village.
