They were using bows and arrows and spears when they encountered some Indian warriors with homemade cannons. The Spaniards were so scared of the cannons that they began to back away instead of attacking. This led to the Indians being able to take cover and shoot at the Spaniards while they ran away.
West Chicago is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois on the west side of the Chicago River. The population was 38,753 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in Illinois and one of its five large metropolitan areas. It is part of the Chicago–Naperville–Rockford Metropolitan Area, which has a total population of 617,021 as of 2015. The first settlers to what is now West Chicago were Germans who arrived from Germany in 1837. They founded a town called Steinau on the banks of the river where they built a sawmill and storehouse and began raising crops. The town grew rapidly and by 1846 had a school, post office, hotel, brewery, grocery store and several churches. In 1871 Captain John Pritzker donated land along Comiskey Street for an airport which would serve as West Chicago's commercial center. By 1940 there were over 100 businesses in West Chicago with an estimated population size of 350,000 people. In 1945 President Truman designated WestChicago as headquarters for United States Strategic Air Command during World War II due to its strategic location just north of Chicagoland on Lake Michigan between Muskegon Heights and Plainfield Hills including much valuable airspace used by German bombers raiding Allied targets in Europe during that conflict. After hostilities ended in 1945 United States forces vacated theirBase Camp Prairie du Sac near present day Racine Park Estates before turning their attention to south central Illinois following victory over Japan at Hiroshima On July 4th 1946 President Harry S Truman made an announcement that "the last American soldier will leave Japan" effective September 2nd 1946 when all Japanese forces surrendered unconditionally! This event marked perhaps America's most decisive victory since World War II!

In 1971, then- Sheriff Harry Blackmun said, "I'm not going to let some radical group from Oakland start any trouble." Blackmun's comment reflected his belief that force could be used only after a negotiated resolution had been reached between the protester and police. As a result, officers were often left with little choice but to fire pepper spray into the air in order to disperse crowds before they could become violent. This practice continued until 1987 whenOfficer Daryl Watts was shot and killed while responding to a disturbance at UC Berkeley campus. At that point, commanders began using canisters instead ofsprayguns because they knew that too much exposure would lead to brain damage or death in those who were sprayed with Agent Orange. In 1992 NYPD officer Nicholas kleiman was shot and killed while using pepper spray on protesters outside his precinct building in Manhattan Beach, California; this event led to calls for reform in how pepper spray is being used by law enforcement forces around the world. Pepper Spray has since been adopted as an integral part of many SWAT deployments across America
